our transportation correspondent gio benitez joins us with more on how this all happened. gio, good morning. >> reporter: hey, whit, good morning. this was such a scary close call. the plane's tires deflated when the pilot hit those brakes hard. take a look at this. this happened over in nashville. an alaska airlines plane hadz to abruptly aboard takeoff after a southwest jet crossed in front of it. the pilot of the alaska jet slamming on the brakes at about 120 miles per hour to avoid that collision. passengers saying it felt like getting hit in a car accident. the brakes overheating, deflating the tires, telling you how much energy those brakes absorb. officials are also investigating an incident in atlanta this week when a delta plane with more than 200 passengers crashed into the back of a smaller regional jet on the taxi way knocking its tail off. just incredible images there. both are very, very serious incidents. that is why the ntsb is investigating, guys. >> george: thank you very much. switching gears to tv's biggest night, counting down to the primetime emmy awa
