glenn? >> somewhat of a change in temperatures, but it's not exactly going to drop dramatically and we broke some records today. we smashed some, broke the record in philadelphia by a degree so far, but wilmington broke the record by six degrees, allentown broke a record by eight degrees. that is unheard of. 69 degrees in philly now, 70 in northeast philly. near 70 in dover and, of course, the warm air continues across the entire region. showers approaching, not especially heavy or quickly, so most of the afternoon rush looks like it's going to be dry, but you can see, obviously, some of that rain that is going to be moving in as we head toward 6:00, 7:00 tonight. most of it on the light side and kind of scattered until 11:00, but it is going to stay warm tonight. look at these temperatures staying in the mid 60s as the showers increase during the evening hours. we'll see just how much cooler it's going to get. eventually we're getting a cold blast, that's coming with the seven day in just a

nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the forecast. glenn? >> vai, we've had 15 straight hours of rain reported in philadelphia and there's a lot more on the way. the winds coming right off the ocean, this is cape may from the marquis de lafayette and it's one soggy and windy day. you can see just a tremendous area of rain and it's getting heavier in portions of maryland and some of that is headed this way. you can also see it's getting a bit heavier with the lighter green. now it's getting darker and so if anything the rain is going to be getting heavier as we go through the afternoon. you can see some of those darker colors in maryland. the yellows, of course, some of the heavier rain. and that continues to move straight in our direction so portions of delaware are going to get it first, then chester county and then it's going to be moving right into philadelphia as you can see this on the futurecast. but then things taper off a bit as we go into the night tonight. but that is just temporary because there's more rain that is going to be com

let's check in with glenn gw schwartz glenn for a look at the weekend, glenn? >> the weekend is going to be significantly warmer than what we're seeing today, and today is about 15 degrees above normal. so yesterday we got to 62. so far today 60, temperature held down by some of the clouds we were talking about, but over the weekend it's going back up. 68 degrees on saturday, near 70 on sunday. the average is 46. and both of those days could see records across many parts of the area. 59 degrees in philadelphia right now, but it is 60 in mount holly, millville, dover is 62, wildwood 63. that's the warm spot, and the cool spot, 54 in mount pocono. that is outrageous for this time of the year, even too warm at night for them to be making snow. you see those clouds coming across right now, but there's nothing on the radar close by. the clouds will also help keep the temperature up during the night tonight, so it's not going to be a cold night at all. take a look at this, by 8:00, about 58 degrees. and then we're still in the 50s by 11:00. cloudy skies, no rain, and

nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the forecast. glenn?ey're not getting natural snow and it's too warm to make snow and those problems are going to continue for those folks. there are people who like cold and snow. not everybody is going to like this seven-day forecast. well, we don't have a whole lot of wind now, but the wind that we do have is generally coming out of the south and warming us up. yesterday we got up to 58 degrees and the average high temperature now is down to 46. so 62 today, 65, then 68. we're talking about more than 20 degrees above normal as we head through the weekend. now, this morning it wasn't all that cold. one of the cold spots, quakertown at 37, pottstown 38 degrees. but as you can see, the other parts of the area in the 40s. 47 in northeast philly for a low temperature. again, the average high is 46. it's what the official low was in philadelphia this morning and you can see millville 39 degrees. there are a lot of december mornings where you can get down into the single digits or teens, let alone what we're

glenn? >> that's a huge area of rain and it's coming right at us. we have rain now and it's going to last for hours and hours. a steady rain. you can see how wet the roads are, this i-95 in south philadelphia. the rain is getting heavier from what we have seen in the last couple of hours and you can see it continues to get heavier. more and more of these yellows as we go down into northern delaware. everything is moving from southwest to northeast. you can see it's a solid area all across maryland and virginia. this is not anywhere close to ending. if anything, it will get heavier as some of this stuff from virginia comes up earlieearlier. it will keep coming. here with come with the futurecast as things increase toward noon and early afternoon. so everything will still be wet but it's not going to be raining anywhere near as hard as it is now and will in the next few hours. it's mild, though 5, 4 degrees, 10 degrees above the average high for this time of the year already and already close to 60 degrees at the jersey shore. so as we go through the

glenn? >> little more typical of new year's eve weather. we've had this incredible warmth during the month of december and once these clouds break up a little bit and we do expect them to, the temperature will be dropping down in through the 40s. we've seen a lot of nights where we haven't gone below 40 degrees. tonight is one of those nights it's going to go below. you can see the clouds out there right now preventing the temperature from getting higher than it did. still got into the 50s today, but really nothing on the radar to show you right now, because the clouds really aren't that thick. atmosphere overall, still relatively dry. it's 50 degrees in philadelphia now, upper 40s surrounding kraers, mid 40s farther north, all of those places with above average temperatures. as the clouds break up through the evening, temperatures start to drop. by midnight we're at 38 degrees with a bit of a breeze, but nothing too substantial. we'll talk about some really cold weather that is in the seven

let's go straight to nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. glenn, it's really wet out there now, with some areas getting hammered with inches of rain. >> yeah, ted, it's now widespread we're getting that much rain, but the rain itself is widespread. much of the area is being affected, and fortunately there's not a lot of traffic, but the roads with wet and the rain is heavy in parts of the area. look at the live radar here, we've got lots of yellow and even the reds, which indicate the heaviest rain from the philadelphia area, down through northern delaware and into salem and gloucester counties, camden county getting some heavy rain right now. and more back to the west, but it is going to be moving out. as you can see, it's a limited area, but we've had radar estimates of up to three to four inches of rain near smyrna in delaware, over towards vineland in new jersey, and that's why there's a flood advisory for those areas until 7:00. the future weather computer showing that as we go through the next hour or two, that this area of rain gradua

. >> let's turn to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. glenn, are we done with this rain? >> yes, we're done with the rain, but not necessarily with the clouds. we have it across the entire area, you saw it at the shore, now the other end in the pocono mountains, plenty cloudy. they had a little bit of snow last night at camelback, but more freezing rain than snow. that didn't help things very much. you can see how low the clouds are right now, but that's all that we have. the rain pretty much moved out. so after the record warmth we saw over the weekend, temperatures starting to creep up there, up to 52 degrees so far today and will get a little bit milder tomorrow just because of sunshine. it's 51 now, it's 40 in allentown, ranging to 57 in dover and wildwood, 58 in atlanta city, almost a 20-degree temperature difference across the area. then if you include the poconos, almost a 30-degree temperature difference. you can see the last of the radar, not much on there, but look at that, 12 hours ago there was the ice up in the poconos and did have some issues there. and then

glenn? are a lot worse now than they are going to be toward the end of the afternoon rush. you can see the headlights here, this is i-95 coming north from the airport. normally, of course, you can see much better. we have very low clouds, heavy rain moving through the area now, but those conditions are going to improve because look at this, we have a line that's dry to the left, it is wet to the right. everywhere. so let's go in and see where the heavier rain is. lower montgomery county and the southern half of bucks county, we've got northern burlington county getting heavier rain, mercer county getting heavy rain right now. you can see some of the heaviest is just crossed bucks county into new jersey. and farther to the south, the heavier rain in willingboro has moved out and that's moved to the east also. but you can also see the back edge of this, the rain just ended in exton and it's just about to end in eastern portions of chester county. it continues to move very rapidly from west to

we'll begin with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz.he rain and fog, too, that could cause big problems for travelers. >> obviously with all of the traffic on the roads, low visibility doesn't help. the airlines do not enjoy this on a holiday weekend. but the rain is not as heavy as it was a couple of hours ago. we can see the lower half of the buildings. a couple hours ago, we couldn't even see that across the river. radar shows just about the entire area getting rain. there are some patches of heavier rain out there. but not so much around the philadelphia area, montgomery, bucks county, delaware, chester county, new castle county, camden county. basically getting lighter rain. but at the shore it's getting heavier. cape may, we see bolt of lightning here near cape may itself. we've got heavy rain up there. little patch of heavier rain around east and we saw that a half hour ago, too, still coming down fairly

glenn "hurricane" schwartz back now with a look at the weekend forecast, and it looks nice, right, glenn? >> yeah, looks spectacular. we're going to be seeing nothing but sunshine during the day, clear skies at night, not much wind, and the temperatures above average. we continue to have great visibility after all that fog and rain that we had earlier in the week. temperatures as a result of the clear skies and light winds, though, they tend to drop quickly once the sun sets, so it's 39 in mount pocono, already 40 degrees in millville and it will be, obviously, in the 30s very soon. down to 50 degrees in philadelphia. 56 degrees on thursday. 52 today. and that is going to be the coolest day that we're going to see over the next few, because it's going to get warmer on saturday, warmer than that sunday. remember the average high temperature is only 49 degrees. getting a little spoiled with all this mild weather. get a normal day in december, and it feels cold. well, we'll see how much warmer it's going to feel and if there's rain coming with the seven day in a few minutes. >>> all right,

nbc 10 chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz here now with his first alert forecast. not too bad, at least the rain's gone, glenn. >> the rain and fog we've seen is all gone, we can finally see again the wind has cleaned things out, but it's been fairly gusty during the day today. right now it is not gusty anywhere near what we saw just a couple of hours ago. 25 miles an hour in philadelphia, other places not even seeing gusts at all, so the wind is already diminishing. we have nothing on the live radar, we did have some snow flurries up in the pocono mountains, but even those have pretty much gone away. so as the night goes on, still kind of windy out there and on the chilly side in the mid 40s, but nothing too cold for this time of the year. the wind diminishes by 11:00 and by tomorrow morning it's chilly, but it's also nearly calm. we'll see how much it's going to warm up over the weekend with the seven day in a few minutes. >> see you then, glenn. >>> the city of camden is reopening a speeding case involving jahlil okafor. okafor's lawyer went before a judge today

. >> glenn schwartz tracking the next round of showers. glenn. >> the showers are not going to be cooling us off any. we continue to see unfootball-like weather around here, and that is going to go all the way through the weekend. we were only 43 degrees on sunday. 57 yesterday. expected about 63 today. and 68 tomorrow. perhaps a record high temperature. it's 60 degrees right now. even some of the normal cold spots it's in the 50s. 51 in mount pocono. that's not good for the skiers. now, not much on the radar right now. but there is another area developing down south, and we i thi think that moisture will be coming up here during the day tomorrow. it's not going to be later tonight. probably not affecting the morning rush tomorrow either. what is going to be affecting the morning rush is fog. now, it's going to stay unseasonably warm through the night but start to get foggy in most of the area later tonight. and by 8:00 expecting dense fog along with these very mild temperatures. we'll talk more about more records that are going to be fall

let's bring in first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. glenn, the rain has moved out. what's next? >> like we said, more mild weather. if it's december, it's going to be mild. as soon as we get to january, things are going to change. not much wind this afternoon, and that's a reason we haven't been able to get rid of the low clouds, but the rain system, that has moved out. the clouds themselves are not that thick, and so they may start to break up as the atmosphere dries out even more over the next several hours. as we go back from this morning, the morning rush, only place that had ice was in the pocono mountains as we expected with some significant freezing rain there and significant rain elsewhere kind of messing up the morning rush. then we had several hours of the rain, the rain moves out, and now we're just waiting for the skies to clear out a little bit. it's going to take a while. 51 degrees in philadelphia now, but a big range from 33 in mount pocono, to 56 in atlantic city. it's even the 33 in mount pocono is mild for that area at this time of the year. 49 de
