how ugly is the gop primary fight going to get, kasey? >> i think it could potentially get very ugly. i think that moving early for bush is maybe an attempt to avert some of that. but i think you're already hearing cruz goes angrily from the right and i think that bush, in this race, sets up a very interesting kind of push-pull. he also told one of our affiliates in miami earlier today, that candidates get a chance to persuade on those issues like immigration. he was talking specifically about immigration. and he seems to show this willingness to say, you know what, i'm going to stand up to this process. and i think one of the things i've been hearing behind the scenes from a lot of republican operatives who are associated with other potential candidates, they view that as a little bit naive. they sort of say, there's no way that he could actually execute that. it sounds as though he's at least going to try. >> now, you know, bloomberg reports, michelle, that because of his business dealings jeb bush might have a mitt romney problem. it s

jeb bush is more down the middle in terms of the gop.s going to attract business interests and more established republicans where as dr. ben carson might seem a bit controversial to them and it's really going to depend who gets in the middle there as to who has the swaying power. dr. ben carson pulls the party and gop primary to the right. that makes hilary clinton a little more viable or we're going to see former governor jeb bush really coming out strong. he's already said he is interesting and coming out strong and saying we're going to see what we can do about this. so we'll see. >> tell me more about the gop and how they're pitching this bigger tent to attract minority voters? what's going on there. >> when president obama came in and had a huge showing of minority support they said we want a piece of that. they're doing a great job of attracting hip younger candidates. the gop freshman class this year coming in this january is going to be significantly younger than the rest of the house and the senate but it really depends on wheth

is that going to win him any points within the gop?. i think we know the solution to the policy, right? nobody's going to send all those people home. somehow or another, they're going to get a path to citizenship. but it's really tough to win in republican primaries with that kind of position. so listen. i hope he goes for it. i mean, i think it's a much more reasonable posture to take. but, you know, good luck in some of those early primary states, jeb. >> and then there's this. a politico article is reporting that some gop hard-liners are actually floating this idea of c censuring the president. >> will that really happen? no. democrats are hoping it will because it's that overplaying the hand that sometimes comes back and haunts -- >> saying oh, these folks can't lead. >> yeah, it's the same thing as shutting down the government and trying to block all this immigration stuff. it plays to the republican base, but they've got to be pretty careful doing that sort of stuff. >> yeah. be willing to lose the primary to win the election. >>

will the gop then be looking for a female to be their female running mate if indeed the gop has a male that's running for president president? >> well, they may, but she has some stiff competition even if she would like to be that female nominee because if you look at the possible bench of candidates it's not so bad. we've got condoleezza rice governor martinez and they have experience in government. they don't have any campaign debt and they're you know they have done relatively sh they're popular in polls, too, so she wouldn't be the only person under consideration. i think that's one of the reasons why she's putting her name out there now. she's been floating out there as a potential candidate for months. she has the money to do it. you see her more on the talk show circuit, out there discuss ing politics. i think she's definitely in the running, but she's going to have a lot of tough competition. >> here's one thing the gop does not want, a repeat of mccain palin. they chose a woman, obviously but it hurt his campaign. >> sarah palin is still popular. >> but a lot of people disagre

i read this you said this with immigration reform but the gop is behind on all this.what do you think should be at the top of the list, a priorities list in. >> look. obviously, there was a point here before this all got implemented. there was the budget battle. you know, they wait to the last minute. the argument is, oh, the government will shut down. what we've got here is an implementation of the hiring of a thousand new slids, blowing up the bureaucracy, another building they are paying rent on to fast track all of this dynamic through with the work permits and social security cards, et cetera. so that's already in motion. so we're already behind the 8-baum if you will, with an establishment of a bureaucracy that i think a lot of people on the democratic side i hope gets established so that the republicans won't be able to you know, get rid of it. i think that when you've got newbies coming in with the new individuals in the mid-terms, this is a great opportunity at this point, really, the budget is the key. they chose not to do any of that with this budget. there

that's toxic with certain parts of the gop base.t's going to be interesting how he plays that out and handles that. >> that's what i was talking about, cameron. the core. at the end of the day, the republicans want to win. how much topsy turvy will there be before the candidate can beat the democratic presidential candidate. >> i think there are a lot of twists and turns left. you're seeing jeb bush at the top of this poll. but we could see a half dozen candidates leading a poll in iowa before they settle on a nominee. there are a lot of good candidates. there were a bunch of folks that popped up but none had the strength to take him out. someone like jeb bush has a shot at the nomination, but you could see him fading very quickly. we could see anyone from mike huckabee to marco rubio to ted cruz either nationally or in iowa. i wouldn't count out chris christie, it's a wide open field with a bunch of candidates who could be strong or turn out to be not so good on the national stage. >> you mentioned new jersey governor chris christi

is that what today's gop is 30 years in the past? >> they seem like it.em like all they have is nostalgia when they did speak to a majority of the american people. they're not doing that going forward. the president was brilliant in that interview. he was challenged. he used the term nativism. and the president laid out why he took this action. that illegal immigration is at a historic low. but the number of people in the country illegally has dropped, that people will not get services thanks to the executive order, that they'll actually begin paying taxes, many of them. so he really broke apart the arguments of the people who don't like the bill. >> you know congressman, before we have to go i want to address something to you. an overwhelming majority of all americans of all political affiliations are supporting requiring police to wear body cameras. is this an area where you can find common ground with your republican colleagues in the house next year? >> i believe so. congressman al green and i have introduced the cam act. camera authorization and main
