a few minutes from downtown guerneville. we are being kept several hundred yards back from the crime scene. i'm told it's spread out over quite a large area. the deputies have confirmed last night around 11:00. there was indeed a kidnapping. a woman texted a friend who relayed information to the san rafael police department. they in turn provided the information to sonoma county dispatch. the woman texted she had been sexually assaulted and being held hostage in a car. she was able to provide a vehicle description and the direction the car was headed. within minutes the deputies spotted the car in west santa rosa in and a high speed chase began lasting for a half hour. deputies actually tried to laying spike strips but the suspect was able to evade them. the man allegedly drove through a gate off odd fellows park road in river side drive damaging several cabin properties along the way. he ended up in a ditch and that is when deputies shot and killed him. meanwhile we understand the female victim is physically okay. santa ros

the sheriff's department confirms there has been an officer-involved shooting in guerneville at oddfellowsside drive around 11:00 last night. the sheriff's department has not released many details only to tell us that no officers were injured. there are unconfirmed reports that this may have started as a kidnapping and we do have a crew on the way. we'll bring you more information as we get it. >> realso have live pictures from riverside county right now. check out these flames. firefighters continue to battle a fast-moving brush fire that broke out yesterday afternoon. so far the flames have scorched about 150 acres of heavy brush there. about 200 firefighters are still fighting those flames. several people in the area told to voluntarily evacuate their homes. and at this hour the fire only 20% contained but more gusty winds are expected later today. a lot of work to do. this is happening in the rancho jurupa regional park in rivers. many with homes in the line of fire did not evacuate. instead they got to work next to the firefighters. >> the roof was on fire. i had to help put that out.
