chief hayes-white? >> commissioner hayes-white: thank you. i did want to make a comment, and that is a huge appreciation and acknowledgement of my support for a wonderful program. it wouldn't work without the dedicated leadership of then lieutenant articeros who i got to hand pick many years ago in 2004 to lead the team, and recently -- not that recently, but she was promoted to captain, so very proud of that. and i can attest to the advisory board, very dedicated. they're all volunteers. they spend a lot of time, they have such enthusiasm and dedication to this program. they really make it work in conjunction with the department members that are the trainers, and it's a joy to meet with them. we try to meet quarterly. they have great ideas and bring something to the table, and really appreciate your efforts and thank you for what you do to make our program work. thank you. >>commissioner cleaveland: thank you, chief. commissioner veronese, you had a comment? >> commissioner veronese: not sure if you answered it, but someone from nert, if you

so at this point, i'm going to turn it over to my friend and colleague, chief hayes-white, to say a few remarks. >> good morning, everyone. thanks for coming out. first and foremost, i'd like to acknowledge and applaud mayor farrell for his efforts not only as surprise but as our mayor. as he said, he has always prioritized public safety and for that we are grateful. he has always been a champion about keeping our community safe. with all of the challenges that we see in an ever growing city that we want to keep safe. also, like to thank mayor farrell for his investment in the department of emergency management. it's all about partnerships and collaboration, and the funding is much needed at the department of emergency management. that is the first agency that's call when someone is in need of help, and you need to have a high functioning department in department of emergency management to be able to get the appropriate resources out to the streets of san francisco via the san francisco fire department and san francisco police department so thank you for that investment. that's where it

director cronenberg and chief hayes-white have been active with the fire chiefs and emergency managers across the state. in the state budget today there is $50 million that will be included in the new state budget to make the state aid system more solvent and to purchase 110 fire engines and $25 million in there to actually allow for the first time in california fire resources to be prepositioned ahead of high wind. and it will also allow us if we have extreme temperatures or extreme -- if we have advance notice of a hazard, then we can pre-request resources to be pre-staged here in san francisco. so it's a big change to the mutual aid system. and another effort that ann has been leading is earthquake early warning. and $15.75 million to expand the network of sensors and with the earthquake early warning. and on top of that money and the general fund budget, we have resubmitted an application for $2.75 million for earthquake early warning to protect our fire stations and our schools. u know brian strong has got some other projects that we'll touch on during his presentation under the h
