hbo at all.ly: obviously, as you mentioned, everyone watching their own streaming network. some of those networks go live this year. cnn plus, paramount plus, apple tv plus. do you think this is the year we really see the true death of cable, the real nail in the coffin, or will this be a long and drawn out process where it is such a tv jumble out there and there's no such thing as a "tv guide?" richard: i think last year was really that year. most of these services, if you think about it, the big shift was from 2020 into 2021. in 2021, everybody watched a streaming service. 2020, it was like the disney+ show joining netflix and amazon and hulu, but 20/20 one was one discovery plus launched an paramount launched -- 2021. apple tv was something people started paying attention to with "ted lasso." i think 2021 was that demarcation line when we fully entered streaming era. no one outside of sports is talking about traditional linear television anymore. i think 2022, you will see some incremental lau

front, where is their content going to come from that will beat out the rivalries like -- rivals like hbo what disney said in their 10k in november is they will spend $33 billion on content in 2022. that's the most of any company in media in fact, it is the most in spades the first thing is that sometimes just having that big volume, that big budget is a lot because it means you can have more shots on goal not every one is going to be a hit, but historically disney's hit rate has been pretty good. the second thing folks want to figure out is how much will be general entertainment content. a lot of the debate is do we want to keep super serving "star wars", marvel and disney fans with more and more series, or is there a need to really expand into this kind of netflix, hbo, scripted series, adult-centered type of genres the reason i like the stock here is disney has known it has been the weak point historically. that's why they paid $50 billion net to buy the studios from fox a few years ago and they're just starting to put the budgets behind the studios to ramp up into a new type of conten

you know, maybe hulu and hbo have a lot of hits or reruns -- but netflix has a huge also subscriber basethe problem is, there are new services. paul sweeney, who worked on wall street for 30 years, covering media, says the future is probably advertising supported streaming, rather than the subscriber supported stuff. what you think -- what do you think? >> i could see why he would say that. but at this point, i would actually argue that from if you are perspective, you would rather be a subscriber than have ads. people have gotten used to that. was going to be the differentiator is the type of content. netflix and the other streamers are investing a significant amount of money and original content -- from tv shows as well as content. on a global basis. they have localized content. as long as -- globalized content. so as long as the content remains compelling, not even squid games level, but compelling enough to get people to watch, they can continue to grow, without necessarily going back into the ad business, the way things used to be. >> i want to dig deeper beyond intangible headlines
