you honor us with your presence. of anniversaries, this year marks the 150th anniversary of the end of our civil war, the 70th anniversary of the end of world war ii, the 65th anniversary of the start of the korean war today we gather to remember the vietnam war and to honor those who served in it. we remember the 50th anniversary of president johnson's order establishing the vietnam service ribbon and we honor our 7.2 million living t vietnam veterans. their fallen comrade in arms including those unaccounted for and families of all those who served. those plowed -- proud marines and coast guardsmen are part of a deep line of warriors, patriots, who served and fought in lexington and concord and gettysburg and midway and more recently in falluja. some of those veterans are here today. some bear the wounds of war or the where of age. some carry with them of fallen comrades american fathers, uncles, brothers and sisters who did not make it home. and others proudly wear vietnam veteran the pelicans and goldstar buttons

true honors or hollow gestures. how would you answer that question and also, talk about the change from after vietnam through today in the appreciation and recognition now received from what they once did. what has driven that change? >> i can't respond to the baseball game thing. i really don't know a lot about that. but, i think we learned some hard lessons from vietnam. and the general livingston stated in the military for 33 years. i know for my brother-in-law jack stayed for 22 years after vietnam it was a good place for him to be. but for my other brother-in-law who was a helicopter pilot, he got out after his tour, and it was very, very challenging for him to try to blend in and forget he wasn't a vietnam veteran, which at that time, so many had to do. so, it was a challenging time, and our nation treated the veterans in a shameful manner and it was a difficult time for our country and for the veterans. it was a hard time, very difficult time for the marines. but we learned i think the reason that you see ove

i'm honored to be here and honored to have worked with phil and staff and a lot are here and got to know them well. i say in the 20 years i have been doing this work, a lot of executive coaching work this is probably the most exhaustive piece of work i have seen. we talked to a lot of people and i'm very caufd we honored the community and peoples opinions and that is reflected in here. we can't have everyones opinion in here, but i think we definitely got a lot of peoples input. it is also reflecktded in the wayee did this. the values we put together and the way we met as a team, the way we talked with internal groups when we put the groups. even the way we were mindful about the specific question weez asked. it was a lot of work and a lot of kindness and also some tension of course but i think we handled it really well. we incorporated a lot of the information into the plan and now we nude to go do it. there is a lot more to this in terms of how to incorporate this and implement it and the good news is the way we have been doing it and put it toorlth we are on our way in terms of how th
