you said, it doesn't strike me out of the ordinary, certainly, that the chairman of the house intelligence committee would have the ability and the relationship of the intelligence committee to obtain information about unmasking requests which, for everyone's purpose, the general rule is to mask or reject the name of a us person or identifying information about us persons who are part of intelligence reporting but you can request to understand the importance that the name be unmasked or identified. it's pretty routine for that to happen. it's a protective measure but in answer to your question it strikes me as unusual for there to be a subpoena for the information that you described. my own experience with house intelligence committee and with senate is that we were up there all the time on a weekly basis, multiple level staff members, talking about issues that were well within their oversight and this would be an issue within the purview of their oversight. it strikes me out of the ordinary. the broader question about the intelligence community, i do worry about the morale of the intelligence commu

you've got the senate intelligence committee, you have got the senate judiciary committee, you have the house intelligence committee and then you have the house oversight committee on top of all of that now, we've got this special council robert muller. now, what this means is you need to circle your calendar for next thursday. because next thursday is going to be a very big deal. we learn today that jim comey fired by president trump is going to testify in two sessions, one is going to be public, one is going to be behind closed doors because of some of the classified nature of the intelligence they are going to talk about but he is going to be the first to hear directly from jim comey since he was fired by the white house and since all of these questions have come up. in the wake of all of this about exactly what these conversations were between director comey and president trump before comey was fired. now, as we know, comey is said to have kept very detailed notes about those meetings and of course senators are going fob wanting to ask those questions. in a way, this is a very big victory

that comes a day before a house intelligence committee deadline to turn over any tapes. and the white house won't say why the president made a comment about tapes in the first place, a move which only led to an expanded investigation. and another vail of secrecy came down today as senate republicans released their health care bill drafted behind closed doors with no hearings. but four republican senators have already announced they oppose the bill as written. that leaves republicans already short of the 50 votes needed to pass the obamacare replacement bill. majority leader mitch mcconnell is pushing for a vote next week, many gop senators say that's not enough time to read the fine print and the congressional budget office hasn't released the cost estimate yet. while most republicans are lukewarm about the bill, democrats are already calling it, quote, evil and diabolical. i'll talk to adam schiff, he's the ranking democrat on the intelligence committee and republican senator rand paul, who says he opposes the health care bill as it currently is written. and our correspo
