howard schultz has been hosting a lot of town hall meetings to talk with employees about race. that's great, because nearly 40% of starbucks employees are minorities. this gives minorities an opportunity to talk directly to the c.e.o. about how they're treated and make suggestions on the way things could be better. page 2 shows a photo at one of the town halls. let's see, i can make out about 30 people in that photo and i see one blurry brother. howard schultz. eople don't want to talk about racial inequality while they are trying to rush off to work with a cup of coffee. others say it makes them feel uncomfortable. schultz started the initiative because of racially charged tragedies around the country. he thought by having baristas openly engage in conversation about race relates, it would with helpful. here is how one customer reacted this morning. >> i think it is a good idea. this is 2015. we see racial tension in the south that should not happen. we see racial tension everywhere that should not happen. we are in the age where basically everyone should live together peacefully. >> reporter: schultz is telling the baristas if the customer doesn't want race together on their cup, to give the customer as new cup and drop the conversation. it is basically volunteer. so far the baristas here are testing the water. not all of them are using stickers. the store is very busy and not sure they want to get in a deep conversation, hold up the line a

when howard schultz wanted to help veterans, he didn't just want conversations about how much people like veterans, he wanted a plan of action to help veterans. there is lots of conversation. we talk about what has gone on in ferguson and other places, it is not issues that are addressed by increasing the number of chats in coffee shops. we're talking about systemic issues. >> for people who think it is a problem -- >> the emphasis of talking about it misleads us with where the problems are. this focus comes out of a conversation that racism manifests on a personal level and our individual feelings toward each other, and sentiments -- we need to look at the systemic disagreements. >> the conversation about race -- we tend to think about a conversation about race, in the way that you would in a psycho analytic sense. it is a repressed thing, but if we talk about it we will talk about it and that will be therapeutic. but it is distributive power to some people -- >> a conversation that is focused on identifying systemic problems that is great. if we're talking so that we can feel bette
