we're working at hud to improve housing and a health in a number of ways. and i want to talk about a few of the things that compliment your campaign. we have at hud a office we call healthy homes and hazard control we call it the heath homes program. the goals of the programs is to improve health through improved housing quality. some of the things we're working on include the following: we've worked s with public housing agencies to promote smoke free public housing. currently, we have over 4 hundred housing authorities that have designated their housing as smoke free. that's good for health and frankly good for businesses. 4 hundred and 3 though is a little bit over 10 percent. so we've got work to do. and your campaign helps to remind folks educate folks of the importance of the connection between housing and health and helps our effort. another example of what we are trying to do is taking steps to incorporate radar testing in to as many of our programs. radar testing is an inexpensive way to have good health in the homelands. we're going to include thi

in 2011, the city was lucky to receive a grant from hud to jump start the site. the grant agreement requires the first two blocks of alice be ready for occupancy if the deadline is missed it takes the money away. so america's cup i obviously there is some intensity. but frankly we've made go significant promises we keep points project on track. so the major phase application is meant to be a true up from the documents of 2010. the sites, you know, as opposed to mission bay don't require the vertical construction those ten to 12 blocks within the project site to do the true ups. there are a series of major phases on the sites and, you know, right now with the first major phase because we recently approved the project there are relevant deviations. i'll discuss those later. excuse the font. we're moving face and that's what the font tells us. i wanted to walk you through the major phase first. the major phase covers 15 hundred new enemies half of them are affordable in the retail district next to the stadium. that will be built over seven years highlighted in red.

because vouchers are being handed out by hud and these programs are being facilitated, but we do needto make sure that there's sufficient services available to address the psychological and-and the substance-related issues that a person may experience. and how do people gain access to that information in order for them to go and basically, i wouldn't say demand, but really negotiate for those types of services, barbara? well, there has to be coordination, and one of the things that the affordable care act is gonna offer is also case management, and hopefully through these case management services there can a seamless transition from recovery into the community, and the fair housing act, you know, prohibits discrimination against people in recovery from housing because that's considered a disability. so, you know, theoretically going forward, there should be this seamless transition with support through aca and, you know, the coordination with the providers. dr. clark, are home and community-based services an effective way of serving persons with disabilities? well, again, you have to

hud on the dealership until hudson went out of business in 1957. what's unique about it is the dealership has the feel and the look of a 1930s, 19 40z car dealership. it has that feel because it's absolutely original. after world war ii ended, didn't need bombers anymore. there was a giant factory, the biggest one under one roof in the world. and two industrialists got together and decided to manufacture cars. there was a pent-up demand for consumer goods after world war ii. they went together and created a company called kaiser frazer using their last names and they manufactured cars here in ypsilanti at the old bomber plant from the end of world war ii until 1953. in 1953, they were -- sales had declined and they were consolidated into toledo, ohio. and in that factory then general motors took it over and needed a factory after losing their hydromattic plant from a fire in livonio outside of detroit and moving here to ypsilanti to manufacture transmissions and half of the factory as an assembly plant. we have a general motors story here. we have
