the department head a listing of different jobs that i felt that i was qualified for, and that i was able to do, as well. with my disability. lucky for me, my department head was very savvy and he was aware of the rule 34 opportunity and so, this rule 34, which is what later transitioned into rule 115, i was able to be placed in a new job classification, one that i met the minimum qualifications for and that was a building inspector and i was able to use my construction skills, now to supervise the work of others instead of performing the work myself. over the years at the department of building inspection, i became a senior building inspector and a chief building inspector and a deputy director, and now, i am a director of the mayor's office on disability. and so i really feel that my experience was rule 34, which became 115. and it is really makes me a poster child of how this important tool really can contribute to bringing qualified people with disabilities into the workforce. but, in looking at that tool, being again, a carpenter always at heart, i recognize that it is only one

i am a senior citizen, and and i am blind and that is two strikes against me and i feel that i am the most fortunate person in the world, because i have a job. it brings me great joy, to work with the people in our community, specifically i work with the blind. and i know that in working with them, we have had over 110 people go through our program. and we have had a 34 percent placement rate with those people and so you can't tell me that they are not ready for jobs, i think that some of the most coveted jobs are with the city when i ask the people, when we ask them where they want to work and it is going to be at the city. at the light house, we have developed i think an outstanding and remarkably close relationship with the hr department. and i can't thank donna enough for being always, open, and listening, and the reasons for wanting to have the people gain employment. and we have actually placed someone, with the city, through rule 115, and we would like to see that happen more frequently and just two recommendations from at least our community, is that many of the people that wo

but as i mentioned i edit a series of anthologies that i created because i got tired of the downtime between books, and so when i signed, i just signed a new contract for the origins of sherlock holmes but whenever i sign a contract i signed another contract at the same time so it gets rid of the overlap. the reason i mention that is there are lots of ways to make the more difficult sound aspects of the career work. i got tired of doing lots of articles that i didn't deeply care about. and so i didn't in the anthology series to take up that amount of money and make up that amount of income. so the ritual i would say is to clear -- that's a thoreau thing to he has this immortal line, i consider the cost of the same to be how much i'd call life has to be exchanged for. immediately or in the long run. and so i would say that in order to have the time to think and write and to throw away a quarter of what i write, and to waste time and spin my wheels i need to keep my bills very small. i need to have a low overhead operation. because it really requires time to think and breathe. that is
