we will have some drifts of smoke and high levels of ozone especially in the inland east bay as well as the south bay. as we go through that commute this morning in brentwood, we have some low 60s to start and then it goes up fairly quickly as we look at our temperature trend jumping into the low 90s by noon, and it's going to be a great day to head to the beach and some of our coastal areas today, where it stays much milder, but still quite warm, but nice for some swimming, with some low 80s in santa cruz, eventually reaching the low 90s around downtown santa cruz. we're going to see some upper 90s for san jose, and some highs over 100 degrees for the tri-valley, inland east bay, as well as the far north bay. going into the forecast for this evening for the marlins game and versus the giants, it's going to be at about 78 degrees, but keep in mind that sitting out there in the sun that's going to be quite warm but it will feel nicer as we go into the rest of the evening and i've been tracking quite a few storm systems across the pacific northwest. they are keeping that cool air to the

today, which is why the spare the air alert, it is today, and north bay, it is moderate, and inland, east bay, south bay, still unhealthy, and the bay improved a lot significantly, today's overall daytime highs, look al san jose, 91 degrees, concord, 97. livermore, 96. notice we don't have triple digits on the map today. it is just near the triple digit mark again. and san francisco, half-moon yesterday, into the 80s. half moon bay is one of the cooler spots and now back to normal. what is causing all of this? the high pressure yesterday. and we could still see drifts of smoke because of the fires burning near chico. as we head into tonight, and into tomorrow, we've got this system, this trough, off to the north, and that is going to linger, and it is even probably going to bring a possibility of seeing some rain. i know it sounds crazy, but we could see some shower chance, mainly to the far north bay though. however, some of the models are showing the possibility of some traces of rain, they're insignificant rain totals but it is more significant in terms of cooling. from 90s to 70 on monday

east san jose as well as much of the south bay. we're up to 95 degrees. we're seeing some upper 90s for the inlandast bay with livermore reaching 99 degrees. 97 in walnut creek and hayward up to 90. we're still looking at some low 70s, some mild weather there. we're into the low 90s there. san francisco in the mid-80s in the mission district that will feel quite warm and the north bay novato at 95. there are storm systems and that's where the cooler air is. we're seeing our air sinking and warming up but it's also bringing in wildfire smoke from farther to the north and then going into next week, monday/tuesday some pretty big cooling as another storm system comes in and even brings in spotty showers to our north. we're looking at some dangerous heat today, tomorrow, as well as saturday with our temperatures in the mid-90s then. in the 80s on sunday and then upper 70s next week. some pretty big cooling as we look at our wide range in temperatures. we still have a big roller coaster here from day-to-day and that roller coaster reaches the peak tomorrow. we'll talk more about that. mike, you're star

we're expecting poor air quality for the inland east bay and the santa clara valley. day today. but tomorrow that all changes and we'll have better air quality for everybody. highs today will range from upper 60s at coastal areas half moon by at 70. and notice the coastal clouds there. san francisco hit a high of 94 yesterday. today, 72. a 22-degree drop. and also santa cruz hit a record high of 103. today down to 83. still nice and warm at the beaches. san jose 89. plenty much sunshine in the inland areas. so we'll see some upper 90s but the triple digits are gone for the most part. antioch 97. sanity ross rosa 90 napa 87 and hopefully you can turn off air-conditioners for the inland areas, dropping into the upper 50s. still mild but the 60s are mostly gone except for concord. also with the clouds coming into san francisco we'll drop in 57 tonight. 58 in san jose. so still mild but cooler compared to the last few nights. now, tomorrow you'll notice that inland numbers will drop into the mid-80s. so that's a big change from yesterday. and then at the beaches we'll see

we also have some unhealthy air quality in the inland east bay as well as the south bay, and we want to make sure we're trying to do our part in reducing the ozone emissions and carbon emissions as well. our temperatures today in dublin will reach the low 90s by early afternoon. we'll continue to go up from there, reaching the triple digits again today in many of our inland spots. we'll talk more about this and the fire danger in a few minutes. mike there are a couple issues in the north bay. >> there are. on the big map at this latitude we see more slowing here, castro valley, hayward, san leandro, and also 580 coming out of theality month pass westbound, there seems to be more focused slowing in toward livermore. i'll keep my eyes on that. we have been watching this car fire just north of the carquinez bridge, and bay bridge is showing slowing in both directions north of the bay bridge benicia bridge, and the fire on mare island the peninsula, not affecting the freeways. we'll have more in a second. >>> the rest of the drive toward the bay bridge we focusen othe backup at the meter

low 90s in oakland, and even up to 102 degrees in the inland east bay. and we could set a new record in concord today. our inland temperatures start to come back down tomorrow, with mid-90s but we really start to feel it on sunday, some low 80s and then by monday, we could be tracking a chance of showers especially in the north bay, with more clouds moving in, highs reaching the mid-70s and then warming up for the middle to end of next week. san francisco mid 80s today, but then coming down to the low 70s tomorrow, and more clouds and cooler temperatures early next week. >>> how are the roads moving, mike? >> moving slowly in oakland north 880 on the right side. typical pattern here. we see slowing where the arrow is, 880 and 580, routes to the maze. the maze moves smoothly and the toll plaza you have the metering lights. the rest of the bay holding steady but instead of just the east bay, now the peninsula side of the san mateo and dumbarton bridges slow for highway 101 and in the south bay looking at north 87 the slowest from 85 past capitol expressway

it will be heating up into the low 90s for parts of the north bay as well as the inland east bay, but we'll see much hotter temperatures tomorrow. i'll talk more about this coming up in a few minutes and mike, getting out on the roads, you've been tracking what's happening in the south bay. >> that's right, kari. better news, got word from chp they've cleared their accident investigation. this crash investigation was here at the lawrence expressway off-ramp from south 101, you see the south bay freeways are moving smoothly. the off-ramp just reopened after the deadly crash investigation happened early this morning. now clear again. you can exit there off of the alternate was great america parkway and looping back again, go back to your normal route there. that's the better news. good news, crashes reported for the san mateo and dumbarton bridges, we've got an update, the person said it was the san mateo bridge, not the dumbarton so whave oy eastbound 92, the crash near the toll plaza. i'm watching for a possible traffic break, because it does sound like a few vehicles are in the middl

looks like the poorest air quality will be in the inland east bay and the santa clara valley.e in the north bay and the south central bay, and we expect good air quality actually on the coast and on the central bay. overnight lows will be generally in the mid to upper 50s, although a little milder in some inland east bay locations where lows will drop only to the 60s. and forecast animation pretty much tells the picture about fog moving away from the coastline. we won't see much of it overnight. we'll see almost none of it tomorrow. sunny skies from coast to inland, and high temperatures will range from mid 70s at the coast to upper 80s in the warmest bay shore locations, to mid and upper 90s in the warmest inland spots. then on friday, it gets even hotter. especially inland where we'll see numerous triple digits readings and highs around the bay shoreline on friday near 90. hayward may top out around 91 on friday. on saturday, the heat holds on inland. we'll still see upper 90s inland on saturday, but they'll be minor cooler near the coast and bay and sunday brings cooler wea

throughout the day the south bay high temperatures warmer than yesterday but we'll have a nice breeze picking uhm. east san jose, morgan hill expect a high of 87 degrees for the inland east bay, pittsburg and danville reaching 90 degrees. hayward a high of 83. toward the peninsula, half moon bay reaches 69, while palo alto 86. san francisco reaching 75 in the mission district, and the north bay in the upp several days throughout the weekend, once again that high pressure comes in, we get a breezy northerly wind but there will be a system moving in across the pacific northwest that will bring them some cooler air and some rain. we'll catch a little bit of relief, too, but it doesn't last that long because by the middle of next week, high pressure comes back, and it brings in more of an offshore wind, very dry conditions and a higher fire danger. here is a look at our temperatures as we enjoy the last weekend of summer. fall officially starts on monday. we'll be at 91 degrees for the high temperature and getting even hotter on tuesday, reaching the upper 90s. we'll see that again on wednesday before it really cools off next thursday. so our spike in temperatures will

also moving toward the tri-valley in parts of the inland east bay where now the roads are wet on 580 and 880 through hayward. so as we cross over the san mateo bridge we'll see the light showers moving through san mateo and redwood city. and over the next few minutes once again it will be clearing out. so as we go through the rest of the day, we are still seeing some hit or miss showers across the bay. then clearing out later on this evening. by the evening commute we're done with the rain as our skies clear but i love the way the sky looks to our mount tam camera in the north bay. you could see the towering cumulus clouds starting to build but we do have breaks in between with peaks of sunshine. we head down to the peninsula, looking at highway 101 in palo alto. the rest of the day our temperatures are staying down. every now and then the sun will be peaking out and we'll see the highs in the mid-70s. as we look at our microclimate and go hour-by-hour, we take you to 2:30 with antioch at 74. we're at 75 in cupertino. and also 75 in napa. some of the high temperatures will only make
