"your watching local 5 jajack miller, stephanie angleson, we are iowa's most accurate forecast with chief meteorologist brad edwards and local 5 sports with sports director jon schaeffer. this is local 5 news at 10. we are iowa." stephanie: an update on the merle hay mall animals that were moved out nearly one year ago. last december, the c-e-o of pella wildlife was evicted from his exhibit at the mall. several state agencies helped to move 21 species out of their exhibits. most of the animals were relocated to a colorado wildlife sanctuary. the blank park zoo and a-r-l also helped care for some of the smaller animals. stephanie: 18 large animals including several foxes, grey wolves, and three black bears spent the past 11 months at the colorado wildlife animal sanctuary. the facility just released their winter newsletter and featured some of the animals. they say all of them had to go through rehabilitation to improve their physical, psychological, and social health. but they're now enjoying their newfound freedom with several acres to roam around. jack: power shopping for a purpose... a local charity is on a major spending spree that everyone can feel good about. it's called shoes that fit. and the goal is to give warm shoes boots and coats to kids in need in des moines schools.. 2600 kids to be specific... volunteers lined up with their carts at the windson heights walmart tonight to cross every kid off that long list. they know something as small as a pair of shoes can make a hge difference.
