jamie costello joins us with details. >> reporter: let me say this, before you start calling and e mailing us, the 911 operators are tremendous. we just had one last week saving a life. apparently this problem is much more common. a montgomery county woman frantically calls 911 and this is what happened. the woman's husband choking, turning blue but no response from the dispatcher. 38 seconds passed before the operator jumps backs on. finally a second one jumps on, snores from the sleeping dispatcher continues to grow larger. it takes five minutes before he wakes up. officials said that dispatcher whose identity was not revealed was on hour 17 of a 24 hour shift. experts say staying that you long can lead to dire consequences. >> someone who is being awake for an extended period of time is operating as though they were intoxicated by alcohol. >> reporter: the montgomery county fire department said thises with an isolated incident but it's happened at other 911 call centers throughout the country. >>> all right. we'll start off with maryland's radar. you can see pop-up activity. we'll conti
