jeannette reyes, abc 7 news. jummy: cathy lanier has the power to shut down a nightclub for 72 hours after a violent crime and she has not indicated whether she will use that authority in this case. investigation underway into a fatal officer-involved shooting in northwest d.c. around 2:00 this morning on clay terrace. the officer shot a suspect after he pulled out a weapon following a fight and a chase. the weapon turned out to be a bb gun, and the officer was not hurt. the aim of the suspect was not released. leesburg police are investigating the first homicide of the year, and the location is a bit unusual. someone ran inside the police station on plaza street to report a stabbing across the street, where a man died shortly after. so far police have not released any names in relation to this case. a water main break that snarled morning commutes will continue to bring headaches to drivers for hours to come. a water main burst rate last night near the intersection of university boulevard and piney branch road.

reporting in rockville, i'm jeannette reyes. happening right now, arlington and fairfax county are on alert for a potentially rabid fox. there have been reports of at least three different attacks in the last few days. john gonzalez has the latest. we have been talking to residents who live in this mclean neighborhood. they say they see fox's here all the time. this week, many of the folks have seen a fox that appears to be injured with bloody paws and a bloody nose and a laceration on his back leg. it has attacked at least one person in this area. we just spoke to a woman who was attacked here on tuesday morning in the front yard. she says she made eye contact with this fox and then it lunged at her twice. she got a chance to take a couple of photos after she was written on the leg -- bitten on the leg. the fox moved very slowly. she was rushed to the emergency room and animal control was called. later, someone walking with a baby stroller was also attacked. this woman says she believes it is the same rabid fox. >> it was clear

jeannette reyes is live with details. jeannette: this is a major announcement in the fight against drug overdose deaths. that number has been rising every year for the past several years. this is a two-part program led by the white house and walgreens that helps to address the growing epidemic that is -- in a way that is practical and convenient. the prescription medication part of this is one of the bigger concerns. often leads to heroin use. they will install these kiosks at more than 500 stores and 39 states. they will be available 24 hours a day. the second part of the program will make the life-saving opioid naloxone available with a prescription. take a listen to what one official had to say about this. has been in many of our communities for a very long time and this issue hasn't been adequately addressed for a long time. we asked officials oxone and whether it will lead to more deaths. they are partnering to make it more available to patients who need treatment. they are hoping other retailers will join in on this
