john alston is there with the latest. >> reporter: alan, the fire for all intents and purposes is out but this is still a work in progress. about 75 acres of grass and brush went up in smoke and flames. no homes were deadged but there are people here with backhoes and bulldozers and waters trying get to out the hot spots. sky 7hd was over the scene this afternoon as firefighters worked to keep the flames from touching half a dozen homes. this started at 2:15 this afternoon. it quickly went to a maximum eight alarms. that has not happened here in a few years according to the fire chief and brought out 150 firefighters from around vacaville and the bay area as well. the flames chewed up the hill toward one house where a young woman was baby-sitting for a one-year-old child. she saw the flames, grabbed the child, ran out, got out, had to leave two dogs hip, happy to say the dogs are fine, they're in their dog run. three helicopters were brought in, making two dozen water drops. fortunately there is a small pond nearby so the helicopters did not have to go far to get their water. the caus
