jeff goldberg has reaction from the family of the victim john geer. jeff: the sentence in court and john geer's mother expressed her sadness and anger. >> this guy was mad at his wife. jeff: evidence reveal that would torres, a former fairfax county police officer had been fighting with his wife before firing one fatal shot at geer during a standoff at geer's springfield town home in august 2013. geer was unarmed. his arms hanging in the doorway. right before torres was to go on trial for second-degree murder in april, attorneys reached a deal for a guilty plea of involuntary manslaughter and sentence of 12 months in jail. >> one year in jail? is insulting. it was murder. >> because he has spent ten months in jail for good behavior he is set to be a free man next wednesday. >> made a decision that was difficult and a p family. he is comfortable with that. >> his estranged wife pushed for hit. harrington didn't want them force to testify. he agreed. >> i struggle with it. i hope i did the right thing. i think i did. >> the wife was in court holding the
