senior national correspondent john roberts is live in atlanta. ll us about it, john. >> reporter: good afternoon to you, jon. this came out 40 minutes ago. this study any parent with an active child will want to look at. it found in the past decade there has been 60% increase, 60% percent increase in traumatic brain injury among children and adolescents. take a look at the numbers. in 2001 there were a little over 150,000 brain injuries reported in the country. look at that number jumps in 2009 to nearly 250,000 brain injuries. look at number one through five activities are. number one is bicycling. number two is football. a. playground activity. basketball and soccer in there. not surprisingly 71% of the hospitalizations for traumatic brain injury were among boys. why the increase? here is a little piece of good news we have for you, jon. because more parents brought their children to the emergency room. there has been a greater awareness of tbi. parents thought, my child hit their head pretty hard. better take them to the "er" which is very good

several supreme court justices including chief justice john roberts gathered at the st. matthew's cathedral yesterday for the traditional red mass. it is a time when the justices traditionally pray for wisdom has they prepare to make their decision. one choice they must make is whether or not to consider the nation's health care reform law. >> and now, you have the states that are challenging the law as well as the administration itself telling the supreme court you need to decide this issue now. i think the likelihood of review has increased and i think all of these factors together make it a pretty difficult invitation for the supreme court to turn down. >> reporter: at issue in a particular case, whether or not children brought to this country el legally through no fault of their own should be deported. they are consideration case as to whether or not a t clis have a right to follow a suspect clues using gps technology before they have obtained a warrant. -- whether or not police have a right to follow a suspect using gps technology before they have obtained a warrant

that's why our own john roberts is taking a closer look at this live from thront. what do we know about this -- from atlanta. what do we know about this? >> reporter: this is a serious problem. a couple of examples, earlier, emory health care only had a day's supply of propofol at one of its four hospitals, the other three had none. just recently, mass general hospital had a shortage of cyterabin, didn't have enough to give to patients, then there's the case of alex ieloo, 26 years old, on chemotherapy to treat his leukemia for the past two years, was coming down to his last few doses of atra, which is known clinically to raise the cure rate to 80 percent from the usual 40 percent, but when he went to the mass general pharmacy in early september to get his drugs, instead of getting the atra, he got an iou. >> i've been off it probably -- probably about three weeks now, so it's an off and on thing. i take it every two weeks. so i'll kind of nervous about it, that it might come back, but i always pray that it doesn't come back. >> reporter: and the problem is getting
