i'm jonathan lemire. thank you for starting your day with us. we begin with another mass shooting this one in northern california. a man opened fire at two landscaping nurseries killing seven people in half moon bay south of san francisco. an eighth victim is in the hospital with life threatening injuries. the suspect is 67-year-old chun lee tsao after they found him in a parking lot. a semiautomatic handgun was found in his car. a motive is unknown. the suspect worked at one of the two shooting sights. california governor responded to the shootings over twitter last night writing this, at the hospital meeting with victims of a mass shooting when i got pulled away to be briefed about another shooting. this time in half moon bay. tragedy upon tragedy. the other mass shooting referenced by the governor happened saturday night in monterey park. and now an 11th victim died from their injuries in that attack. it comes as investigators appear to have a motive for saturday night's massacre. they say that evidence so far suggests that the 72-year-old gu

i'm jonathan lemire. thanks for starting your day with us. the five memphis police officers who were fired after the death of tyre nichols have now been charged with his murder. a tennessee grand jury confirmed indictments against the former officers. all five were members of a specialized police unit patrolling high crime areas in memphis before they were all fired for a their conduct during nichols' deadly traffic stop. the charges against them include second degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and official misconduct. civil rights investigation is also under way. all five officers posted bond yesterday. police body cam footage of the confrontation is expected to be released tonight. the "new york times" reports the severity of the video is what led to the quick firing and then charging of all five officers. lawyers for two of the officers involved said yesterday that they had not seen the footage but their clients plan to plead not guilty. tyre nichols was pulled over for alleged reckless driving and it led to what police call two confro
