essentially what happened there was that another person, a member of the boy band menudo, alleged that jose menendez also sexually abused him. so that evidence, along with a letter that eric menendez wrote before the killings alleging his sexual abuse, the defense says is enough to ask the court to reconsider their sentence and their conviction. so again, this was essentially the way that they reopened up this case and got more attention because of the docuseries, because of another show on netflix and a lot of interest from the public. the question here is not whether or not the brothers killed their parents. they have admitted to doing so, but their defense has argued that they did it in self-defense. after years of sexual abuse and emotional and physical abuse by their parents, the prosecution at the time argued that it was a premeditated and actually motivated by them wanting their parents money. and so, 30 years later, we'll have to wait and see what the judge decides to do tomorrow. but even more consequential is a hearing scheduled for december 11th. that's the resentencing hearing. so that m

we heard from the elder sister of katie menendez and we heard from jose menendez. they are both in favor of having the brothers released saying they serve enough time and that what the boys endured was unimaginable, even kitty's sister says that she couldn't believe that her sister allowed this to go on, at least she believes she allowed it to go on because she never did anything about if. the big disappointment we were expecting to see the brothers on web cam but did not happen today because of technical issues and somebody with the web x program at the jail. we did hear from the brothers. we are not sure which one spoke but there was a point where the defense attorney asked if they could hear or if they were on. we heard, quote, we are. and we heard another voice say, we have video access the entire time. so they got to see the proceedings. we did not get to see them. but we heard from them briefly. very uneventful except the fact we did hear the key testimony, the two sisters of the victims and the reason the judge allowed them to be heard was because they are b

other one is the former member of menudo, who has alleged that he was a victim of sexual abuse by jose menendez. but what i really see the district attorney focusing on this is gascon, who's leaving office that's another issue we can talk about. he's going to be gone in a week, but he's focusing on rehabilitation because there's a law in california that gives leniency when it's a court believes that you have been rehabilitated. and we want to show everybody here what gascon has written in legal documents is first of all, lyle menendez. he's gotten his college degree a bachelor's degree from uc irvine he also has begun in instituted programs in prison for the other inmates, beautification programs, adverse childhood experience programs, life without parole applies for those that are younger, that are getting life parole. now, when you're talking about eric menendez, he actually has his associate's degree. he has begun a program of sign language in the prison. for those that are profoundly deaf, that need this to be able to communicate his other programs include hospice program, a victim empathy
