awesome stats all the time i'll give josh one of these stats. yesterday was the 8th largest jump in volatility in the history of our market. it's pretty impressive that was a 48% move. that was pretty extreme. sko scott, what i've conveyed for a long time now is when volatility is high and the markets are getting higet ing hit, those are opportunities you take advantage of more of a person who will be involved in stocks and using the options at this higher implied volatility to sell against that it gives you an incredible leverage and a lot of cushion to the down side in many of these names. that's been the play book i've had this entire time the day before we were down in the 24s, 25s in that range in terms of the volatility index. my amount of volume of sheer positions in the options market was probably at the highest level it's been since february by now what that really mean s when i see a big pop like we did yesterday and we see that and see that sell off, all right it's time to put on the play book again and start buying stocks and selling

let's go to cnn's josh campbell who is live for us in st. paul, minnesota, where this press conference is going to take place in just minutes. josh, these new charges are reflected in court documents. >> reporter: that's right, jake, we heard just hours ago from our law enforcement sources that there had been a major development here in this investigation into the death of george floyd. and what we were awaiting was some type of official confirmation. what we were told is that the state attorney general's office which had assumed leadership of this case from county prosecutors days ago, that they had been reviewing the evidence, sifting through all the available video and other eyewitness statements in this case to determine whether or not additional charges would be brought against the police officers depicted in those videos. we can now report, as you mentioned, that based on court records all of the officers involved in that incident that resulted in the death of george floyd have been charged by authorities. three of the officers, j. ale

our coverage starts this morning with cnn's josh campbell live in minneapolis. josh? >> reporter: good morning. i'll get you up to speed on this investigation. we heard from the governor that the state's attorney general, keith ellison, will now be taking over the prosecution in this case involving one of the officers in the investigation into the others that were associated with the death of george floyd. now the attorney general keith ellison saying they're going to be pursuing justice, they're going to be pursuing it relentlessly. we also got some new pieces of evidence over the weekend, particularly this one video that appears to be from a business showing a police officer and a police car where we believe george floyd was in the back of. you can see on this video as officers surround this video that there appears to be some kind of struggle going on in the back seat. we can't see george floyd but we're hearing that this was the moment they were trying to seat belt him in. what this shows is that there was apparently some type of resisting that was taking place. o

>> josh. before you go, can you talk, because you have talked about what it means to be a veto-proof majority to completely disband the minneapolis police department, what can it be replaced with and what happens next? >> reporter: yeah, this move is causing a lot of questions. i talked to the city council president yesterday and she told me yesterday she has nine members of the city council that are prepared to vote to dismantle the city's police department, and in her words she told us that she doesn't believe that the police department is effectively serving the community. let's listen to what she said. >> the system isn't working for too many of our neighbors for too long. our reform efforts have nailed, and we have done many, many attempts at reform and new leadership in the department and many things, and we still see this tragic death. so i think the wake-up of our community is what's driving the city council's announcement yesterday. >> reporter: that was her speaking this morning. als

josh lipton with the results josh >> so, sarah, micron reporting q-3 eps of 82 cents. versus expectations of 77 cents. revenue beating as well. q-4, looking for $1.05 they say the street is closer to 81 cents for q-4 they're at 5.75 and $6.25 billion. micron, the largest u.s. maker of menlry chips and the chips going to, of course, a variety of products. so i think pcs and smart phones. investors getting insight into health and strength of the markets. he's saying here micron's exceptional execution drove strong revenue in eps growth despite what he calls challenges in the macro environment back to you. >> josh lipton, thanks nice pop for micron after hours. listening through the metrics, sounds like a beat on all fronds including the outlook. what are you watching and how much of a bellwether is it snt. >> pretty constructive obviously, it's a bellwether for memory, for that part of the semiconductor business and the stock has been moving in the right direction. it is still, of course, below the precrash highs around 60 but definitely has kind of created this up trend

we have josh at the white house following the story. what's going on, josh? >> reporter: alex, a showdown with the justice department and federal prosecutor's office in the country. if you went to sleep early, you missed a lot of developments. let's get you caught up. a statement from attorney general william barr late last night saying the u.s. attorney for the southern district was stepping down and adding i am pleased to announce president trump intends to nominate jake clayton. the current chairman of the s s.e.c. that statement made it seemed like berman already stepped down. two hours later, a statement from geoffrey berman saying not so. adding, i have not resigned. i have no intention of resigning my position. it is unclear what's going to happen next, alex. normally the firing and hiring of u.s. attorneys is the prerogative of the president. in this case, berman was a temporary appointment. he wasn't sent by trump by the judges on the court. there is an open legal question if trump or particularly barr have the authority to fire him. as far as why th
