meteorologist kari hall is watching over those temperatures and, kari, you said this will stick around for a few days at least. >>> yeah, and it's all about your location becau inland valleys reached over 100 degrees, so there will be all about location in those wide-ranging temperatures as we get a start this morning taking a live look at walnut creek, one of those hot spots as we start out this morning we'll be in the upper 50s to low 60s and then we start to see those temperatures heating up by late morning and we'll see once again another hot day for the inland valleys. and this continues throughout the week. we'll talk more about this coming up. mike, how is it looking for early morning commuters? >>> the speed sensors look great. a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, had to take a look because reports of a crash, a fender-bender, approaching the toll gate. we don't see a problem and, remember, all cashless. chp maybe helping with paperwork. as far as speeds go around the bay, a nice, smooth flow. there was an incident on highway 17. we'll follow up with that coming up. back t

let's jump over to kari. what are we expecting today? >>> it's going to be another really nice day, but it's been super windy for some of us and still will be today as we get a live look outside in the south bay. we're starting out on this tuesday morning with temperatures in the upper 50s, about a normal start and our temperatures will be near normal as we go into the afternoon. a comfortable day before we get ready for a heatup or south bay high temperatures we'll reach into the mid to upper 70s. we'll talk more about this coming up, also, the hotter weather ahead. mike, you've been watching the roads. any issues? >>> one major issue in the south bay, kari. we need to take you to a live camera. this is an investigation which has southbound almaden expressway closed. just south of highway 85. there's a single vehicle we believe in this deadly crash and we don't know how long this investigation will last. we're looking at the map, the closure. it'll take youthe major roadway of your screen. heading away from 85. if you're heading out of

first, meteorologist kari hall, how concerned are you about fire? >> as of right now, that's not a major concern. we don't have a lot of high wind. but yes, it will be definitely hot and the vegetation continues to dry out. a live look outside in walnut creek right now. we're already starting to feel those temperatures heath up around the bay area. take a look where we are right now, 91 degrees currently in livermore. these temperatures are jumping up really quickly. 82 in oakland. in san jose we're at 88 degrees. these temperatures are even hotter than yesterday at this time. we show those temperatures heading to over 100 degrees for a lot of our inland parts of the east bay. oakland will each 86 degrees. 96 in san jose. we're up to 99 degrees today in napa. san francisco also warming up to 80 degrees today. this will be the peak of the heat. we may set some records in a few spots. we'll talk more about that and about some weekend cooling headed our way, that's coming up in a few minutes, chris. >> thank you so much, kari. >>> the heat might motiva

>> it is, kari.ut we also have one over in the east bay and the metering lights were turned on early at the bay bridge. almost 15 minutes early. let's talk about that first. the live look shows you the backup is moving. what happened is that there was a fender bender near the toll plaza. seeing that in the report and chp controlled those metering lights for precautionary and thinking there was an issue. the map is circled at the top there, but everything outside of the toll plaza is just finebrid. that's the sabout. north 101 is jammed up because of the crash on the southbound side and we have two tow trucks. waiting for two tow trucks to clear the vehicle. no major injuries reported but a major distraction for the northbound side. the slowing continues from 680 despite the lighter volume over the last 20 minutes. your alternate, you can get over to 280 and get over to northbound 87 to get past the scene. folks who are familiar with the traditional commute previous years suggesting 87 as an alt alter

let's get to meteorologist kari hall. we want to talk about the wind gusts and red flag warnings. >> this is for the north bay. we've seen a lot of these areas highlighted for hills and mountains above 1,000 feet. we're looking at this continuing until 8:00 this evening. so far the winds are about 20 to 25 miles per hour. there's the possibility of what we saw at mt. st. helena that themiles per hour later today. we'll continue to monitor that and the humidity. we're looking at the humidity levels dropping down to the teens during the day as well as the winds picking up. we'll have critical fire conditions as our temperatures reach to the upper 80s. i'll have more on this in the rest of the forecast. >> thanks, kari. >>> the bay area has 23,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus. bars that were supposed to re-open on wednesday, the council holding off on that. santa clara not announcing a re-opening date. in san francisco, businesses like hair salons, museums and the zoo were supposed to re-open, but that's been delayed. mari

it was a hot one yesterday, kari. looks like we'll see the same thing in probably some of the same spots. >>> right. it's going to be hot again today for those inland valleys. as we start out with this beautiful sunrise, these early morning hours, that's your time to get outside, as we look for the hills near orinda as that sun comes up this morning. right now we're in the upper 50s to low 60s. we know that for some of us it's going to be hot again today as we reach into the upper 80s and low 90s. a few spots even reaching near 100 degrees. we'll talk more about this spread in temperatures across the bay area and what's ahead. mike, you've b ahead for the mo commute. >> i want to take a look at the peninsula, palo alto, look at all the cars for highway 101. a good volume of traffic. a little glow from lights. low clouds in the distance. driving is fine on our sensors, no delays. two incidents marking the maps, disabled vehicles just off the main freeway. i did want to show you to the bay bridge no slowing, contra cost

first, we want to start with meteorologist kari hall. kari, we're talking about the fire danger and that's a big scare for a lot of people. >>> it was so windy over the weekend. that red flag warning for solano county as we still track the quail fire that's been going on and multiple smaller fires burning around the bay area win again that continues today. we've actually had some cooler than normal temperatures, so today as it gets just a little bit warmer, we will still have the fire concern but we'll have some warming as we go through the week. but midweek a few spots hitting 90 degrees. more on that and a weekend cooldown coming up. mike, you've been keeping an eye on the roads. what's going on as drivers get ready to head out? >>> i'm hearing about something i can't see but you're talking about it, the wind, making the fire risk higher. richmond/san rafael bridge does have the advisory from chp. it's clear right now. as we're looking out to your maps, no problems on the drive across 580 just near the top of your screen coming through

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that. we're coming off rain and nice weather this weekend. the question, will we see that continue through the week? >>> well, we're going to see a mixed bag once again. we're starting out mild, just a few clouds. a live look outside in san jose. enjoy some time outdoors today as our temperatures will still be mild as we go hour by hour checking out how our trend goes for today. some of our inland areas at noon will be in the mid-70s. we'll stay in the 60s along the coast and as we go into the afternoon a few spots will reach the low 80s like we see in antioch reaching 83 degrees at 3:00. san jose will be in the upper 60s and san francisco will be in the mid-60s, and we will see our sky clearing as we go through today. but that's in anticipation of some hot weather heading into the bay area. i'll have more on that and a full microclimate forecast. mike, you've been watching the morning commute. what's the update for us this morning? >>> kari, looking like the same pattern that was establish

that's kari hall. are we going to see a lot of it today? >>> we are.t's going to still be very warm for some spots around the bay area. let's take a look at our sunrise this morning. my favorite part of the day as we get a look at our view from mission peak looking over parts of the east bay. now we're going to see the sunshine continuing, but we are also going to see our temperatures warming up. let's go hour by hour as we look at where we'll be at noontime today, if you're thinking of taking the lunch outside, looking at parts of the east bay, we're in the low 80s. but for san francisco we're at 73 degrees. half moon bay at 68 and 8 in santa rosa. now some of us will continue to heat up today and some spots reaching the low 90s. for the east bay as well as parts of the north bay, in the south bay we're in the low to mid-80s and it's going to be a nice breeze picking up but the high winds will get pretty high for parts of the north bay causing a problem of that high fire danger. now today will be the last day of that red flag warning. before we start

meteorologist kari hall has the answer for us. a very good morning to you and thank you for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. mike is keeping an eye on what to expect in the commute. first we want to start with meteorologist kari hall because we have to talk about those very hot temperatures and could be dangerous for a lot of people, too. >>> yes, especially in the inland valleys and the north bay, the east bay, as well as the south county as we get a look at what you all know is my favorite part of the day, sun rise, looking for mt. diablo and it's such a nice, clear start to the day. we are going to see our temperatures in mountain view starting out in the low 60s and then quickly ramping up. it won't be as hot here but still warm this afternoon. 83 degrees. we see the microclimate where we will be between 100 degrees from morgan hill over to livermore, antioch and concord all the way up to ukiah. all of this will be replaced by much more comfortable temperatures. i'll talk more about that coming up. m

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that. i think a lot of people are just hoping it's not too hot or too cold. >> right. so for san francisco, you may call it a little too cold because it's going to be breezy, cool, and at times some fog moving by. we're seeing that right now with not much sunshine. but as you make your way inland, it is a beautiful day. let's talk about these temperatures. we're right now at 64 degrees in san francisco. it's in the upper 60s inland so that coastal fog and the cool front that moves through is bringing in some cool air for all of the bay area. look at the difference in the temperatures from now till 24 hours ago. we are right now 14 degrees lower in livermore than we were at this time yesterday. so it's nice to see that cooling if you will be going out. maybe out for dinner in san francisco, expected to be in the low 60s and mostly cloudy. you do need a reaching up to 72 in livermore and in san 75 in concord. we'll also reach 75 today in napa. we will take a look ahead to that weekend forecas

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that and a beautiful sun rise behind you, kari. >>> yeah, we were going to start out with a clear morning as we check out martinez and where we're headed for today we'll start out at 64 degrees at 7:00, a little bit warmer than when we normally have our morning starting and look at the trend as we go through today. we'll be at 90 degrees at 1:00 this afternoon. and it continues to heat up as we reach into the upper 90s here. it's going to be a big change n the esterday, and it gets even microclimate forecast coming up in a few minutes. and mike gives us a look at the early morning commute. >>> kari, we'll go past your 90 geographically speaking. the big view shows what you would expect lighter traffic except for right at the altamont and grant line road things loosen up once again but the build is on there. not a build for the north bay but coming down to martinez across the carquinez bridge west 80 at american canyon there are reports of boxes in the roadway right now. your left two lanes may be a factor. so far no slowing and no traffic break

>>> kari, we have a car fire reported in oakland. i'll show you folks the green sensors all around the bay. as far as the speed sensors go, which is great as you expect right now, over to eastbound 580 just past highway 24 getting away from the bay bridge, reports of one car fire there. the incident should be light and so should traffic because many of the city curfews we're talking about last until 5:00 a.m., but we will continue to follow, of course, any of the outstanding reports. back to you. >>> thank you, mike. 4:32 now. breaking overnight the bay area unrest and the chaos went on despite curfews in effect in many bay area cities. in the late night hours protesters remained out in force and the looting continues. numerous bay area cities do have curfews in effect until at least 5:00 this morning. you can see those cities on the map -- san francisco, san jose,. also because of those protests the state offices in downtown san francisco and san jose are shut down today as well. the santa clara county superior court also closed. th

the golden gate bridge where carl is sticking around, i know meteorologist kari hall has been teaching me over the years that when we see a lot of that fog, it usually means it's going to be cooler in that area. >> yeah. so that cooling will stay right along the immediate coast line. but the inland areas are really going to heat up again today. as we take a live look at the cupertino hills over the south bay, we are seeing nothing but sunshine here. so we will see a wide range in temperatures across the bay area. look at this. so right now in san francisco because of that fog, it is 67 degrees. but then you head inland, and it is 84 degrees in livermore. you can see the spread in temperatures in some spots that are anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. so it will be a warmer day. we are taking a look at some spots that will be close to some records, but i don't think we will see those records fall today. so we'll talk more about this and also some cooling ahead for all of us. that's coming up in a few minutes, marcus. >>> well, you know what, some workers at

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking the forecast.ari, it's going to be a little warmer but certainly a nice day for us. >> a very nice day, and we're going to have temperatures just coming up a few degrees in a few spots. take a look at this sunshine that we're seeing. our microclimates, we started out with some clouds this morning. still some fog there near the coast. it's going to linger throughout the day and keep san francisco cooler. as we look at our current temperatures, we're seeing our temperatures right now as we get ready to head out for lunch, mostly in the 60s. we're already starting to see some mid-70s in the inland east bay. as we look at these numbers and how it compares to yesterday, just a few degrees above yesterday with livermore feeling the biggest warm-up now at seven degrees warmer than yesterday. this is a live look from the cupertino hills over the south bay as check out how the rest of the day will shape up. we'll see a mostly sunny sky with high clouds moving in. as we go through the rest of the day, the sk
