katie marzullo is at the hospital where the injured were taken. we'll begin with terry mcsweeney at the still closed oikos university campus. >> reporter: it is going to be closed indefinitely according to the police chief saying the person that did the shooting came out specifically to do what he did. we are also learning the person he specifically wanted to kill, wasn't even on campus yesterday. that's an administrator who may have played a role in kicking him out of this school. take a look at video from yesterday about 10:30 yesterday morning when it all down. police say 43-year-old former student one goh opened fire he was using a 45 calibre handgun, targeting administrator who may have played a role in having him kicked out several months go from the school. goh shot 10 students this is a student body of less than 100 students, so he shot a fair percentage of the student body. it was bedlam out here as you can tell by the 911 call. >> a lady came outrunning she blood on her arm. >> an active shooting going on. >> can we get another ambulance

katie marzullo, abc7 news. >>> 6:34.field police officer is on administrative leave this morning, -- while detectives investigate his involvement in the shooting death of a suspect. authorities say the officer went to a home in the 700 block of gold coast drive to follow up on an investigation. the 16 year veteran and the suspect began fighting in the doorway when the officer pulled his gun and shot the 51-year-old man. the suspect died at the hospital. the names of the officer and dead man have not been released. >>> this morning more students will return to classes at oikos university, more than three weeks after seven were shot to death by a former student. one class was held yesterday. 17 of the 22 students enrolled showed up to finish an english course. most of them didn't want to talk about the shooting. one teacher we did talk to says, he is still shaken but feels it is important to get back-to-school and finish what they started. >> i'm still dealing with the emotion. it is tough. i thought it was important i com

katie marzullo has more on an emotional memorial for the victims. we begin with terry mcsweeney at shoreline park with the latest on the search for the murder weapon. >> reporter: 43-year-old one goh expected in court today this afternoon prosecutors have a mountain of evidence against him. one thing missing is the murder weapon. oakland pd say they've developed information that leads them to believe it was thrown into this body of water between the oracle arena and oakland airport on monday morning. take a look at the effort to find that 45 calibre handgun. these are divers going in last night into the water, looking for the semi-automatic gun used in monday's rampage that killed seven and wounded three. the suspect goh has confessed but for some reason stopped short of telling investigators where he threw that handgun. police have information that it is in here so they called in the robotic sonar scanner from the san francisco police department. they have boats some from the coast guard, some oakland pd equipped with scanners come in yesterday, th

katie marzullo is live on campus with new information.t found new information on the suspect's personal history too? >> reporter: we did. that's according to a korean newspaper. apparently one goh had one failed marriage and changed his name to one goh when he moved here from korea in the year 2000. as far as his tar get -- his target in this shooting. the police chief is saying that is not the right person. the director of the nursing program her name is ellen cervellon was thought to be the original target she admitted she and one get had conflict over him getting his tuition back. she said he dropped out, not kicked out as originally reported. and he was not going to get his money back. she was not on campus monday the chief is saying cervellon was to the target, it was another female administrator, he's not naming that woman she is worried about her safety. one goh was officially charged with the murders yesterday. seven charges of murder, three of tempted murder. the district torn is revealing more about how the administrators -- the

. >> katie marzullo joins new information about the victims. >> reporter: the survivors are okay. the hospital just confirmed in the last hour that the last of the three survivors was discharged from the hospital last night. that's good news for them. of course the seven people who were killed never made it to hospital. we have confirmed one name of one victim, a 38-year-old, a buddhist immigrant from the himalayas. he was attending the college to become a nurse during the day working as a janitor to pay the bills at night. the shooter shot him in the parking lot and used his car to get away. he was the only man killed the other six are women from 21 to 40 from all over the world tibet, korea and the philippines. we did talk with one survivor as she left the hospital yesterday carolyn tyler asked her what it was like? the woman still stunned but tried to explain what happened. >> i got shot in the arm. >> reporter: did you get stitches? >> yeah, i got stitches. >> reporter: what was that like in there? what was the atmosphere? >> not the best. oh well. whatever happened we can mak

katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> 4:32. san francisco's embattled sheriff is fighting a legal and public relations battle to save his job. ross mirkarimi will go to court today to fight his suspension by trying to remove the city's chief attorney. amy hollyfield is live at the courthouse. mirkarimi defended himself on the radio yesterday. >> reporter: that's right. he's fighting inside the courtroom and out. inside the courtroom he's going to go at it two ways. today he's going to ask that the city attorney be removed. mirkarimi claims that the city attorney has a conflict of interest. tomorrow, he's going to ask the court to overturn his suspension. yes, he also launched a campaign outside the courtroom. a public relations campaign. he appeared on a radio show forum yesterday to explain his side of things. here's how he described bruising his wife's arm the center of this case. he says they were having an argument on their way to lunch. >> i reached over from the driver's seat, still with my seat belt on on to put my hand

. >> katie marzullo joins new information about the victims. >> reporter: the survivors are okay. the hospital just confirmed in the last hour that the last of the three survivors was discharged from the hospital last night. that's good news for them. of course the seven people who were killed never made it to hospital. we have confirmed one name of one victim, a 38-year-old, a buddhist immigrant from the himalayas. he was attending the college to become a nurse during the day working as a janitor to pay the bills at night. the shooter shot him in the parking lot and used his car to get away. he was the only man killed the other six are women from 21 to 40 from all over the world tibet, korea and the philippines. we did talk with one survivor as she left the hospital yesterday carolyn tyler asked her what it was like? the woman still stunned but tried to explain what happened. >> i got shot in the arm. >> reporter: did you get stitches? >> yeah, i got stitches. >> reporter: what was that like in there? what was the atmosphere? >> not the best. oh well. whatever happened we can mak

katie marzullo join us live from the stadium. what is the answer to that one?orter: good morning. the students aren't going to like the answer. this is from the wall treat journal, newspaper did some math here's how it pants out renovations are supposed to cost 321 million dollars, the university was hoping to make 270 million dollars through private donations. as of december they've only received 31 million dollars. so, that is the big question, who is going to make up the difference? the wall treat journal's quoting university officials says the money could come from campus funds that includes students'ties not new fees, but moving fees that might otherwise be used for academics staoufpl dens are sure to be outraged if it comes to pass they are already paying more for tuition tuition up 17% last year in the wake of state budget cuts to the university and the hikes are going to keep coming for the next four years tuition is expected to go up between 8 and 16%. the university's part they say they had to renovate the stadium it lights on top of a fault they say

katie marzullo is live at oakland police department. >> reporter: these are preliminary reports sounds like up to three one shot in the chest, one in the leg the third has a bullet in his collarbone. the roommate says sounds like he's going to be okay. this is 98th avenue and holly street 11:00 last night. authorities found two victims. the third victim drove home. his roommate says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught in the crossfire. a witness describes what he heard. >> at least 30 shots, to different guns, long rapid fire, longer than what you usually would hear. >> reporter: police took at least two men into custody at the scene. we don't know anything about the suspects or the motive. we want to mention that same witness said that he was disappointed in the violence in his neighborhood because so many police officers have been laid off. this comes on the same day it is expected mayor quan to take back her philosophy on policing which was to inundate the more violent neighborhoods with more officers. the other neighborhoods weren't happy with that. she is going to

katie marzullo is live at the campus with new developments. >> reporter: i have all of that for you. let's start with where we're standing the crime scene here oikos university still a crime scene. detectives are saying it could be another day or so before they hanover control of the university back to the school. you can -- hand over control of the university back to the school. there is still an officer out here guarding the school. another scene is going to come into play today. look at video of the estuary near the oakland airport this is where authorities have been searching for the murder weapon. they weren't able to finish the search because of weather yesterday. they are going to be back out there today, diving again and searching for that murder weapon. another revelation, apparently the administrator originally named as the target of one goh's shooting rampage has been changed. the police chief told at associated press that ellen cervellon was the target. the chief is saying it was another administrator and not naming that administrator, also a woman. one goh was well-known

. >>> i'm katie marzullo in for kristen sze. ors have not given up hope that -- sailors have not given up hope that crewmembers are still alive. amy the coast guard not as hopeful. >> reporter: the coast guard says there is no chance they are still alive. the race officials here at the yacht club say they believe the sailors had life vests and foul weather gear so the was hoping to be able to rescue more people. they say they don't think there's any chance at this point. they've been looking for 30 hours and they've decided to give up. here's a shot at the boat stuck on the farallon islands. it was hit by large wave that knocked some overboard when they turned the body around to try and rescue the sailors another wave hit knocking everyone except for one, overboard. one confirmed dead, four missing, three have been rescued. the woman who took a picture of the boat says seeing it really affected her. >> i was heartbroken when we saw a sailboat on the rocks knowing what happened yesterday, it was horrific to see that in person. >>

katie marzullo is live at the oakland police department. >> reporter: no matter where you put the police officers somebody is going to be upset about it. one man who lives near where last night's shooting happened wishes they had more police in that neighborhood. take a look at the scene about 11:00 last night corner of 98th and holly, three people shot, one drove himself home. his roommate says he was only caught in the crossfire sounds like he's going to be okay. the chronicle is reporting this shooting comes the night before the mayor might change her strategy on policing. she had wanted to inundate the violent blocks with officers, the 100-block plan. people in the other neighborhoods did not like that plan no within in any neighborhood is satisfied -- no one in any neighborhood is satisfied at in point. one witness talks about how he feels. >> with them laying off police officers, them not putting focus on these neighborhoods, you know, you know it is going to happen. summer is coming around, more and more young people are getting antsy. with resources cut, there's not much that we

katie marzullo joins us live with the latest. >> reporter: right now it is still very much an active. you can see behind us a few officers down the street this is as close as police would let us get. they have a k-9 unit with them he's suited up in his bulletproof vest. i have heard somebody speaking into a bullhorn i cannot make out what they were saying. a little information, few details that are not confirmed just things we've overheard over the police scanner someone might have come out with their hands up a little while ago, again not confirmed. a pit bull ran from the house and was loose for a bit an officer tells me he believes that dog has been caught. one less potential danger out as far as we know, people are inside and armed. we have video earlier from sky 7 hd this whole situation unfold 1:45 this morning when police got a call there was a stabbing victim. authorities found the man they tried to resuscitate him, took him to the hospital there he died of his injuries. meantime, the home now at the center of this standoff that's where the 911 call about the stabbing victim
