katy zachary is live on west main street and what happened, katy? >> as you look behind me, this busy intersection has reopened to traffic. as we go to our video, i'll show you why. focus in on the tractor trailer that is in the middle of the shot. several bullet holes in the windshield near the driver's side. the driver was airlifted to a philadelphia hospital this morning where police have been interviewing him. witnesses at the scene say the truck was drivering erratically and dangerously going through intersections in norristown and eventually driving through a guard rail that blocked a small side street from busy route 202. apparently, police had been chasing the truck for some time. trying to stop it. one person tells me the tractor trailer driver started driving towards a norris town police officer who was in his cruiser and that's when shots were fired at the truck. now, when we arrived here out at the scene, we could see bullet casings underneath one of the police cars that responded. the norris town police chief was here at the scene throu

our katie zachary is live. katie, this was a case of several men storming into the home with adult family members inside? >> reporter: yeah, and the police chief tells us, christine, that this family is pretty shaken. understandably. imagine getting ready for bed around 10:30 at night and all of a sudden a group of men with guns storms your home and holds you against your will. it happened for a couple and their two sons here on the 100 block of lafayette in collingdale. we have video of the scene soon after police were called. when police arrived, they were told that three men each armed with a handgun and then one with a shotgun broke in through a back basement door. they wore dark clothing. their faces covered. they found the homeowners in the basement. the couple was pushed to the floor and then held there while the men ransacked the rest of the house. the two sons were upstairs and also held at gunpoint according to police. throughout the whole ordeal, here's how the victims reacted. >> there was no defense

our katie zachary is live on scene for us this morning. katie, this family was very shaken by what happened. >> reporter: that's what we're hearing from police, chris. the couple and their two adult sons very shaken by what happened which is understandable because here they are getting ready for bed. it was around 10:30 last night when a group of men stormed their home. these men are carrying guns, they're wearing dark clothing. and this family is held against their will. we have video of the scene soon after it happened around 10:30 on lafayette street here in collingdale. police say they had guns and were wearing dark colored clothing. they broke through the basement door to find the husband and wife inside. the couple was then pushed to the floor and held there while the men, again, armed, three had handguns, one had a shot while the group ransacked the rest of the home. they found two adult sons upstairs. police say they were also held at gunpoint. the four men took off running. it's unclear what valuables were taken. those men are stil

nbc 10 katy zachary has a look at traffic right now. >> we are holding at one accident reported so far for the morning and that's when new jersey will and first a live look at the 42 freeway at creek road. headlights you see northbound headed into center city philadelphia in the area bridges. volume is, of course, building on the northbound side. this is typical an active construction zone overnight but that has lifted. at least you don't have to contend with that in that area. the accident i'm telling you about on the garden state parkway northbound. exit 25. the left lane is blocked as a result of that accident. so, keep that in mind if you're headed on the garden state parkway northbound this morning. right now taking a look at your average speeds on 95 as we head to allegheny avenue. speeds are staying right now in the 50s, but they're likely to go down as we see the morning rush pick up in just the next little bit. finally, for montgomery county drivers, live look at 422 right at your boroughs. >>> the tensions between people who live in north philadelphia and temple university st
