ken -- ken molestina is there live. >> reporter: i was able to speak to sources within the fire department. they say this all does in fact stem from that fire call that you mentioned at 11:25. firefighters with engine company 10 and truck 13 were called out to a fire on hayes street. we understand that at some point while on that fire they may have come across some kind of a home drug lab and possibly been exposed to some of the chemicals there. we understand once that fire wrapped up the firefighters packed up there' trucks, they came back here to their fire house, and it wasn't until hours later into the evening that they began to complain of illness. they began to fall ill, complaining of dizziness, some of them even vomiting. at that point the entire firehouse, eight firefighters, were relieved of duty. right now they are at a medical center being evaluated for this possible exposure. we understand that nine other firefighters from around the city had to be detailed to this firehouse. it's called the house of pain. those nine firefighters are now holding down the fort while the eight f

ken molestina is here with more and gives us an update. ken. >> reporter: police say that shooter was targeting another 16-year-old boy when that gunfire broke out. a second victim was hit. that's an 18-year-old female. both of them are expected to be okay. we want to go ahead and show you some video. video you are only going to see here on 9news now. we were there on the ground when police arrested the suspected shooter at a gas station three blocks away. police believe this is the young man that is their gunman. they say they were able to catch up with him quickly and they did recover the gun used in this shooting. again, police say he targeted one of his victims. that's something police investigators are going to have to try and figure out. metro police, rockville city police and montgomery county police all responded out here to the scene. they are investigating this case. they say it took them about 8 minutes from the time the phone call went out for the shots fired until the time the suspect was in custody. 8 minutes is all it took th

our ken molestina is live at u.s. district court with more on howard brooks. ken? >> reporter: simply put, this is yet another black eye on local government here in the district, specifically on the vincent gray administration. today in court howard brooks admitted to a laundry list of wrongdoings, but what he admitted and pled guilty to was lying to fbi investigators and making false statement to them. under the scream outlined by the u.s. attorney -- the scheme outlined by the u.s. attorney's office this all began back if 2010 when brooks allegedly made payments to sued mon brown to keep brown in the race so -- sulaimon brown to keep brown in the race so he could attack mayor incumbent adrian fenty. brooks is the second gray staffer to plead guilty to federal charges. earlier today here's what his lawyer glenn ivey had to say about all this. >> i think he hit the point where he realized that it was time to accept responsibility for what he'd done. he realized he'd made a very serious mistake in the way he'd gone about handling this initially. he wanted to get it
