ktvu's ken pritchett was there, from the video it looks bad. >> reporter: police officers were serving a search warrant. when they stumbled across this home where they call it a classic case of training dogs for fighting. an abusive environment. >> reporter: it is in this moment as oakland animal control officers try to subdue this dog but the dangers become clear, it bit one officer, then delivered another bite to the director. >> first time i have been bit in 10 years. >> reporter: it is a job that brings sad sights to see. dogs scared, and aggressive. >> some have dog fighting wounds, chewed up ears, scars. >> reporter: no one was home when police served a search warrant at the house. most of the dogs were chained up outside. two were inside the dark, dirty home, crammed with training gear. >> the officer came in, they identified equipment used for fighting. treadmills, weighted vests. medication. >> reporter: officers found medication used to battle infections. while some dogs were aggressive, most were not. this appeared friendly. another a puppy still too young to train. he says

ktvu's ken pritchett joins us now from the mcdonald's with how the gunman entered the building then force the workers to strip off their clothes. ken. >> reporter: well, it was 2:00 a.m. the doors of that mcdonald's restaurant were closed. only the drive through was open. an employee told me today that there was video showing a masked man staring into that drive through window for several minutes. he was unnoticed by the employees inside until he made his move. it is not a big win. do it doesn't have to be. but it seems this drive through window is just big enough for a 5' 10", 165-pound armed robber to crawl through. >> it is like pretty drastic. >> police say the gunman state your named the manager and employee and forced them to the back of the restaurant and stripped them of their clothes. >> unbelievable. >> police do have video. >> they were ordered into the freezer and employees pleading for their life and significantty decided to stay put until they felt it was safe to come out. >> one manager off camera tells us the employees last night remain traumatized. >> the employee there i

ken pritchett talked with those who found the little pup and their hopes to find the person who threw her out with the recyclables. >> reporter: the poodle mix was here on a cold steel conveyor belt piled high with trash before she was saved and named gem, g-e-e. >> she's a precious little gem that ended up in the trash can. >> she had some injuries on her that we would like to know how she got injured. >> reporter: she has wounds on her neck but will survive with veterinarians and two workers from recology who were sorting trash by hand and saw a bag wiggling. >> it would have been transferred to one of the landfills. >> reporter: gregory foster and his coworkers acted fast. called animal control. >> we pulled the puppy out of the bag. we examined it. the puppy was frightened. >> reporter: investigators want to know where this puppy came from. however the workers i talked to here say that will be difficult to determine if not impossible. one thing seems clear this puppy was disposed of. a deliberate act. >> it had to go into a dumpster by someone placing it there. >> reporter: animal

ktvu's ken pritchett takes a look at the new laws you should know about. >> reporter: they decided ton francisco today, a city that he feels is bike friendly. but tunan says sometimes the cars creep a bit too close. >> if i'm in the middle of two lanes, one lane with moving cars, i try to stay in the middle of that. >> reporter: we witnessed it. cars and bikes passing each other, with just a foot or two to spare. a new law is intended to prevent accidents like we've seen, by requiring cars to keep a minimum distance of 3 feet when passing cyclists. the new bike law may be the most significant traffic law of this coming year but there are others. drivers who are green or white carpool lane stickers can use them longer. they're now extended to 2019. metal license plates, and registration stickers may be a thing of the past. something new and cheaper, such as plastic plates. if you have traffic tickets, another law prevents you from transferring your car to a relative, until the traffic tickets are paid. leaving the new bike law as the only one that impacts all drivers cyclists like it,
