ken wayne is life in the hospital with the latest on the four injured. >> julie, it's raining right now but weather had nothing to do with this crash. that 23-year-old mother and two children ages 2 and 6 are being treated here at santa rosa memorial hospital tonight. another child was air lifted to oakland and that mother who was behind the wheel is under arrest. >>> the helicopter air lifted a 12-year-old girl to hospital. she was the most seriously injured in this cash that sent an suv over the guardrail and down an enbankment. that girl and a 6-year-old girl were ejected along with the driver. a 6-year-old boy remained in the vehicle strapped to a child seat. police say it's amazing no one was killed. >> looking at the speed and the damage, i'm sure it was a significant trauma to the kids and the mom was in pretty bad shape too because she got ejected into the roadway. >> reporter: the woman was confronted earlier this evening by her husband who was concerned about her drinking. we're told the husband left the house to avoid a confrontation. shortly after that, the woman also left w

ktvu's ken wayne is live now at one of those burned homes. he tells us both families need help and are wondering what's next? >> julie, one of the families wanted us to show you the damage caused by the fire here last week. as we take a look inside, you will see there is a mess in here. items on the floor and other items knocked around. the family says a lot of this mess was not caused by the fire. the fire broke out in a back bedroom. but while the red cross put up the woman and her children at a nearby hotel, someone broke into her burned out home and ransacked it. >> it's sad. people are looting and taking things. and why would you want to take from us when we've already lost so much? >> reporter: tomorrow she will have to leave the motel. without renter's insurance to cover her losses and help her move on. she asked the county for help but was told there is no assistance for her situation. she wonders why there is not a better support system for families like hers. >> i lost a puppy in the fire. what if one of my children would have been

good evening i'm ken wayne. heather holmes is off tonight. with flooding and blocked roads, the bay area has been inundated and some communities are overwhelmed. this is video right now in capitola. a video of the mess was sent to us of the floodwaters. our meteorologist is following the storm front. we begin with ktvu's jim vargas. >> ken, this is just devastating for some down here in capitola. we will show you what the flood left from 9 to 2 this afternoon there was a rushing river down there. >> reporter: this video was shot by a local resident just as crews thought they could beat the storm and replace the culvert that gave way two days ago. the destruction that started thursday. >> this was way worse than thursday. this is probably closer to three feet coming out to do this damage. >> reporter: pretty bad? >> really bad. if you had a raft you may as well go rafting. >> so very, very high water just rushing so strongly with big waves going right down capitola. >> reporter: yes. >> just going into the village, horrible, horrible. >> repor

. >> and i'm ken wayne. that powerful storm that rolled through the bay area last night is now lashing southern california. even though it's hundreds of miles away it's still having an effect here in california. >> it's a lot more calm right now, and we just checked with southwest in the last half hour they say none of its scheduled flights. it was bob hope airport that seemed to get hit the hardest today. low visibility and high winds prompted the cancellation of at least five flights between the bay area. >> reporter: hail, yes. along with rain and rainbows this evening, but it was winter in burbank causing trouble here tonight. >> reporter: these burbank travelers were rushing through the airport trying to get their flight. >> we immediately came to the airport and tried to get into another flight. >> i got a call from my mother saying that due to winds there's water in the valley and the roads and everything and i laughed at her. oops. she was right. mom was right. >> that's not even a ticket for getting
