i'm marcus washington and i'm kris sanchez. laura garcia is off this midday. we do begin with that breaking news in the east bay. and w we can now confirm that one person is dead following an officer involved shooting in concord. now, nbc bay area's bob redell live for us there from the scene. and, bob, i know you just spoke with the da's office. what are they saying? well, we also just got a new statement with concord police, who now tell us that an officer shot and killed a man who was stabbing a family member here at the family home on the drive not far from the intersection with willow pass road. you can see detectives here with concord police. they're out here as part of this investigation in that home in question is behind them, behind that white pickup truck. that's the home that they've been focusing on here in concord. the call came in around 140 this morning. police say when they arrived, they found an adult male who we believe was the son, using a knife and actively stabbing another man who we believe was his father. the son died here at the scene.
