kristen: got it.hat is an important difference to know. you had an item about the cdc data showing 75% of children have antibodies. two things. does that mean they had covid and recovered, or could that be from vaccinations? two, what is it for adults? >> it presumes some type of exposure to covid, whether recovered, whatever it may be. the important thing is that 75% of kids are not fully vaccinated , so when we look at this data, we need to say we have a combination of vaccination-acquired immunity and naturally-acquired immunity, which should blunt the worst effects and an increase in cases. in adults, that number was about 50%, the first time studies have been about 50%. the presence of antibodies does not tell us a lot about the duration or level of protection we will have, so anyone who has antibodies, we want to make sure they are fully vaccinated in getting a booster, but natural immunity does play a factor. kristen: what is the latest with regard to vaccines for kids under five? still waiting

kristen: what a weekend. delays and cancellations widespread, different regions and different airlines and they all gave the different explanations. it was somewhat of a perfect storm. >> it really was a travel mess this past weekend. first, we had problems with -- airlines where there was a pilot work action against the airline that forced alaska to cancel a lot of flights. that was compounded with very bad weather in florida, during a peak spring travel weekend. 20% or so of flights on large airlines like jetblue, delta and others were canceled. on top of that, southwest airlines had an i.t. problem during the weekend which forced them to cancel more flights across their network. so, it was not a good weekend to get from a to b. >> i saw a lot of comments saying where i am, the weather is fine. can you explain to folks the cascading effect why even if there points a and b are fine weather-wise that it could still be messed up due to something happening in florida? >> absolutely. the thing about airplanes is

kristen: would you mask? let's say on a packed plane. >> packed plane, any plane, the only plane i wouldn't mask on is an empty plane. the only person on it. i wouldn't otherwise. i think given the amount of covid that is around, there is a good chance someboandye, on mayg next to me, has covid. the ventilation system is good, but to me it is not a big deal to mask and i would rather stay safe so i'm wearing a mask. i will take it off or 30 seconds at a time to gobble down some or chug a drink, then put it back on. i will wear a good mask, and n95 mask. kristen: i am assuming it is the same for trains and buses. what about school classrooms? >> in a city like san francisco where cates -- case rates are low, it is good to leave the choice to parents. i could see parents choosing to do mask on. if it was my kid i would have them mask. if the kid was fully vaccinated and i was confident everyone in the class was vaccinated i think it is a closer call, but i would tend towards masking as long as the case rates ar

kristen: robin, the floor is yours. robin: should i be worried about covid with my teen, or long covid for both of us, or what should i be worried about going forward in the next few months? dr. hong: i would think of your illness as two phases. the first is what you feel like in the first month, the second would be after the first month. you may have, you know, you probably will not feel immediately better because you have these symptoms and it will take two or three weeks, but you will gradually feel stronger. this is not long covid. long covid takes or means you have symptoms beyond a month. that's why i wanted to divide it into two.even though it may not be long covid this month, you may not feel like you can think the same way. i think that is normal because in people with regular covid, that happens, but it goes away after months one, beyond month two, i think you have a very the chance of long covid. i will tell you why. one of the biggest studies recently showed one of the big predictors of long covid is whether

kristen: good. i know that what you don't want is for crime to be a deterrent and that is why there are many initiatives in that regard right now. i want to ask you about last week,-hour ride team ran a report. we have video of where laptops and cameras were sold in the open air market in mission. what do you see as the solution, what are the different ways you can respond to this? mayor breed: i think part of the solution, of course, number one, we want to provide opportunities so people never cross that line in the first place. number two, when those lines are crossed and people commit illegal acts, people need to be held accountable. part of the legislation we introduced is about the accountability proponent. we know that people are going to our retail stores and places, and even unfortunately people and their vehicles, taking these items, and they have to be sold somewhere. so this is not just about the sales on the corner with the open markets around bending. this is also about people who have

kristen: her term does expire in two years anyway. why do you suppose your sources felt it important to speak out now in terms of the timing instead of letting things take their natural course? few are expecting her to run again. tal: this is an issue that has been an issue for some time. we have new details but there was a round of questions raised in 2020 about this. there was also an instance where at a congressional hearing, she repeated nearly word for word two questions that she was reading offer prepared questions within the span of five minutes without any recognition that she was repeating herself. it was all centered around whether she was able to lead the judiciary committee and alternately, she stepped aside. but there is a question as to whether the people of california , who do not elect a staff, the elect a politician, whether they have adequate elective representation. she will be able to serve through the end of 2024 if she so chooses. there is almost never used process for expelling someone from the senate that it is

kristen: but that is happening on a wide basis. proms are happening, i hear local schools that have an at -- an outbreak after the prom. you might go to a professional awards dinner and three hundred people -- 300 people, one person being masked out of the whole audience there. so in fact, people are doing the kind of things that would expose them and make them susceptible to catch it, but if they are vaccinated and boosted, should they feel that that is ok to do right now? dr. rutherford: i think it is fairly safe to do right now. it depends on what the background transmission rates are. i think right now, given where we are, even though it's bouncing up and down, i think we are in enough shape that if you have been vaccinated and boosted, your risk is going to be as low as we can make it without hermetically sealing you off. kristen: i do know a lot of people who are kind of waiting to get their second booster, even older folks. what is your thought on that? people got boosted in november or december the first time, with that hav
