kristen berset went out to survey all the damage. >> i'm kristen berset here at congressional country club. you can see there are remnants of the damage from last night's storm. a huge tree fell right here. thankfully, it was over the 17th hole of the gold course. so it doesn't affect play for the at&t national. but this tree is just one of dozens that fell down here at congressional. the ground crew working diligently all through the morning to make sure the golfers could tee off this afternoon for round three. >> quite an undertaking. we were working, probably from midnight, 1:00 last night. there was some 30, 40 trees that were down that the maintenance staff removed all during the day. we were lucky to start play almost 12 hours later. we are hoping to complete 12 holes today. make sure we are ready for all the spectators tomorrow. >> fallen trees like this one are going to take longer than just one day to clean up. spectators coming out for the final round on sunday will surely see evidence of the damage left behind. from congressional country club in bethesda, i'm kristen berset

kristen berset is here with more on the festivities. >> thanks, guys. big night for major league baseball and the nationals. tonight, three all-stars getting a much deserved chance to show the country just how good they really are. they have been relishing in the fanfare all week long. it's the second all-star game for nats ace, geo gonzalez. he went last year as a member of the oakland athletics in the american league. it's the first selection for stephen strasburg. we haven't seen the lineup yet, but bryce harper said to mishis all-star debut tonight. he spoke earlier about the excitement of being in kansas city at the all-star game. >> it feels great. i think it's an exciting time and i'm excited to be here and it's good to be around all the best players in baseball and you know, it's impressive. >> joining me now from kauffman stadium, 106.7, the fan. grant, it looks like a gorgeous day out there. you have been there since thursday. what can you tell us about what the all-star experience is like? >> well, the city of kansas city is doing a wonderful

. >> kristen berset is here with some news about old tiger woods. how did he do? >> not too shabby. tiger woods said earlier this week open championship is one of his favorites to play. today he came roaring out the gates shooting 4-under on the front 9. woods kept it steady on all but one hole of the back 9 to wrap up a great round 1. tiger woods is searching for his first major in four years. here's his first shot of the day on the par 3 first, what a good 1. look where it lands, nice. he would birdie that hole and then on the 4th long birdie putt here for tiger, but no problem whatsoever. he was doing well with his short game. two holes later there was more flat stick action and another birdie. can't compete with that. what a great round for him, but it wasn't totally perfect for tiger. in his second shot he finds more rough and bogeys that hole. he finished the round 3 of- under. all in all he was pretty happy with the way he -- 3-under. all in all he was pretty happy with the way he played today. >> i figured a couple under would have been good. i look up on the board and scott
