initially when those downed power lines affected customers, it affected more than 370 people including workers at the microsoft campus. pg&e crews are still here at mountain view on la avenita very close to the microsoft campus as you can see still here. they are busy inspecting power lines and cleaning up some of the downed power lines that sparked that brush fire. they are just above the stevens creek trail. that's why the trail is closed until further notice. the whole ordeal began just before 9:30 last night. people reporting that they could hear explosions and see flames near the microsoft campus. by the time the first firefighters arrived, they could see several downed high voltage power lines and some of those lines did spark a brush fire that eventually scorched about two acres. a resident who happened to be here near the fire and who happens to be shooting this video for us told us more of what the fire looked like. >> the flame was about 20 stories high --story, 20, maybe 40 feet high. i got about 30 feet close to the fire and didn't feel much heat so it wasn't too extreme but it was intense. >> reporter: despite that intense incident. no buildings were de

lines across the street from microsoft in mountain view. good evening, everyone. i'm jessica aguirre. >> and flames lit up the night sky. an active scene right now on la avenida street. a lot of well known company like microsoft and google located right there in this business park. let's bring in george kiriyama on the scene. what exactly happened? >> driving on the 101, saw the fires glow and wondering what was going on. we just talked with the mountain view fire department. they told me to look to see if a trans former blew up. we are in the dark. the power is out in the immediate area. pg&e is on the scene. let's take a look at this video that we just mentioned. the video shot by a guy. you can see the bright red glow of the flames, shooting up into the sky. ireland and other witnesses say they saw power lines on fire as well as some trees. our firefighters say some brush also caught on fire. joining me now, you shot this video tonight. i want to ask you. you had to walk up to this fire and tell us, what did you see? >> i saw a flame about 20, 30 feet high. it wasn't radiating any heat. it was just trees and some brush. there weren't any buildings.

pg&e crews are still here at mountain view on la avenita very close to the microsoft campus as you can see still here. they are busy inspecting power lines and cleaning up some of the downed power lines that sparked that brush fire. there's also yellow tape around the cul-de-sac, the end of the road. that's stevens creek trail. we are told that the trail is closed until further notice. the whole ordeal began just before 9:30 last night. people reporting that they could hear explosions and see flames near the microsoft campus. by the time the first firefighters arrived, they could see several downed high voltage power lines and some of those lines did spark a brush fire that eventually scorched about two acres. a resident who happened to be here near the fire and who happens to be shooting this video for us told us more of what the fire looked like. >> the flame was about 20 stories high -- story, 20, maybe 40 feet high. i got about 30 feet close to the fire and didn't feel much heat so it wasn't too extreme but it was intense. >> reporter: despite that intense incident. no buildings were destroyed. the microsoft campus is okay. the nearb
