there has been a major injury crash on highway 24 in lafayette. for some time all eastbound lanes were shut down and allie rasmus is live for us at the scene as chp tries to clear up this mess. >> reporter: just in the last 20 minutes, the two right right lanes of eastbound 24 here in lafayette have opened to traffic. you can see cars going through. we are right in front of the pleasant hill road exit in lafayette. and behind me you can see two of the six cars involved in this crash. now this happened around 5:30 this morning. i talked to one of the drivers involved in the crash off camera. he said that he was driving back from san fransisco and saw what looked like a cooler in the middle of the far left lane. he told me he swerved to avoid that cooler. he ended up hitting the concrete barrier here on the highway, and then his car spun back into on coming traffic hitting five other cars. now at least two people were taken to the hospital. the chp says they had serious injuries. as we take you back out here live, you can see the tow truck is gettin

they recommend going to concord or lafayette. there will be more buses there than here at walnut creek. about six. 11 buses here in walnut creek have already left. all right. so here's video of this morning riders lining up very early in the morning to try to beat the line. kind of a reminder of the last 4.5 days strikes back in july more people than buses at that point. this time around it's expected there will be enough buses for 6,000 passengers. keep in mind 400,000 people get on bart every, single day. that's a big difference. so earlier this morning we talked with some riders. here's what they had to say about the strike. >> i think that bart, you know, should be held like just like the police officers and firefighters they are not allowed to strike. i don't think bart should be allowed to strike because so many people depend on bart in the bay area to get to work. i mean, i do understand their frustrations, too. but it really puts a whole damper on the whole bay area you know, when they strike. so i just really hope they g
