there is so much water in lake oroville, that for the first time in the orville dam's history, water is flowing over the dam's emergency spillway. this footage from our sister station up in sacramento, this is the state's second largest reservoir. the recent storms contributed to an erosion tear on the main spillway, and repairs will cost between $100 million and $200 million. officials say there are no safety concerns about the structural integrity of that dam. >>> these recent storms providing some very amazing rain totals. let's check in with meteorologist rob mayeda. when you hear them, they're just amazing. >> the rain we saw this last week, eclipse monthly averages in seven days. about 4 inches of rain in mill valley. in the santa cruz mountains, close to a foot of rain. as we rewind back to the beginning of the year, 20 to 35 inches of rain. 60 to 75% of the average for the year, falling in just six weeks' time. no wonder why we're having so many problems there in the santa cruz mountains, in terms of those hillsides, sliding away. in the north bay, 93 to 108% of average rainf
