laura just touched on it a little bit. florida was less contentious than the previous debate. some critics even saying that it was plain out boring. what do you think of the overall feel? >> well, you didn't have the sense they were going to punch each other, that's for sure. they were very calm. i think in terms of foreign policy, you want to reassure voters that you have somebody who has steady leadership, who's calm and cool in a crisis. i think that's what both of the candidates were trying to do. you didn't see the interruptions that you saw in the other debate. it probably made bob schieffer's job a lot easier than perhaps with jim lehrer or candy crkro y crowley. it was a much more sedate tone. now that we've done foreign policy and had a calm, rational discussion, we'll move on to other issues. >> it was a foreign policy debate but at times both candidates veered off of that and into domestic issue. did that surprise you? >> it didn't surprise me much. i think certainly in the case of romney, he wants to pivot back

laura. >> thank you, brian.re just getting reports from the romney camp, already claiming 7.8 is not a recovery. so we'll keep our eyes on everything going on. thank you so much, brian. >>> right now we have some new details to tell you about in the sexual abuse case involving a teacher at an albany middle school. police say several new victims have already come forward. james izumizaki was arrested last week on suspicion of lewd acts with a former student. he was then found dead in his car less than a week later. in a brand new report, police now confirming his death was in fact a suicide. police also say several girls are now coming forward, claiming the sixth grade teacher molested them as well. izumizaki's arrest and subsequent death shocked the entire school and that community, sparking outrage among parents who say police acted rashly. police say this investigation will continue. >>> 6:33. the mother accused of ditching her 10-year-old daughter during a grocery store shoplifting attempt is back in the bay

i'm jon kelley. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon.rning our october heat wave continues with warm temperatures expected throughout the bay area. the heat is being blamed for an elderly woman's death in the east bay and today that woman's son is traveling from virginia to the east bay to demand answers. 86-year-old yolanda membreno was found dead in 100-degree heat at pleasant hill elementary school after wandering away from a cop cord nursing home on sunday. caretakers noticed she was missing at 4:30 in the afternoon and searched on their own for about an hour before calling police. a police dog eventually traced her scent to fair oaks elementary school about 100 yards away from the facility. the family says the home told them she died of a heart attack in her sleep. the home denies saying any such thing. >>> all this hot weather is also causing one south bay park to shut down. san jose's alum rock park to be safe will be closed today. this is due to possible extreme fire conditions and they also want to reduce any chance of fire emer
