nbc10's lauren mayk sat down with eagles insider dave spadaro to find out. uren: the eagles' last performance getting a lot of folks concerned, especially with the offense. quarterback nick foles has been getting a lot of practice time, but do you think that we're going to see the backup quarterback nate sudfeld on the field january 13? dave spadaro: yeah, no, i don't. i think that everybody needs to exhale a bit here. nick foles has been in the nfl for six seasons. he started the playoff game in 2013, did a really nice job, left the field with the lead. and he struggled a little bit here the last couple of games, no question about it. they've worked all week and practiced, and have still have another week of practice to go. nate sudfeld is a young, developing quarterback. and honestly, lauren, in football, the backup quarterback is always the most popular man in town, right? lauren: till they have to-- till they have to get on the field. dave: so, while they think that he will develop into a nice quarterback, right now nate's job is to support nick foles. na

. >>> lauren mayk is in south philadelphia. >> lauren, what's the situation where you are?>> reporter: the rain that we were seeing, it has turned to sleet and rain combination. we can see it bouncing off car windows. i'll put my arm out to you to see if we see that sleet bouncing off. it's a mention tur of sleixture rain. you'll notice that it's really wet. the roads are wet and sidewalks are wet and, of course, the concern is as the temperatures dip tonight, this cold ground, things are just going to freeze up and create ice and create more treacherous, dangerous conditions. if you look here, you can see there is some salt on the sidewalks and there are 35,000 tons of salt ready to go and crews at the ready. they were not going to send them out until the snow started falling. meanwhile, people are out on the road getting the last-minute items before they head inside. >> here's what you've got to do. get home and be safe. >> reporter: that's what you're doing right now? >> yes. >>. >> reporter: and that soup he's sharing with his mother. if you're being looking out here, w

lauren mayk spoke with the congressman about those allegations. she joins us live now from delaware county. >> congressman meehan talked about his emotions and interactions with a staffer. he said he act selfishly and wishes he had not settled this case. but he says he does not forsee a romantic relationship. >> i don't believe the stories out there are accurate. they are not accurate. >> reporter: the congressman talking about misconduct allegations reported in "the new york times." he professed roen maptic desires for a staff member. >> did you make romantic overtures to a staff member? >> not romantic. not a romantic interest but i demonstrated there was a caring and affection. >> reporter: he sat down to address the report that has put him in the national spotlight for both the reported allegations and a settlement paid with taxpayer money from his office. the congressman's representatives provided us with text messages between him and the staffer who they say was in a new romantic relationship and planning to leave the office and the country.

nbc10's lauren mayk joins us live from north philadelphia outside the home where investigators have spent the day. lauren? >> reporter: denise, the work has stopped here tonight that we have been watching all day, but you can still see behind me a police presence and some of the equipment they have been using. it is a second bitterly cold day for crews out here trying to figure out what caused the fire that took two lives. the flag outside the fire station at half staff in honor of lieutenant matthew letourneau, the firefighter killed in the line of duty. a mile away, his colleagues were back at the scene today. they're trying to learn more about the fire that took the life of the 42-year-old firefighter and another. a resident that friends here are remembering as a talented athlete and a longtime fixture in the neighborhood. >> i used to see him walking his mother. he would get up early and walk his mom to the bus stop as she would go to work, and i was just shocked. >> reporter: this man says they were friends for 35 years. played basketball together in the community. >> he was a very a

. >> nbc 10's lauren mayk continues our team coverage live from roxborough. lauren, you're at an already treacherous spot that could get a lot worse with the weather moving in today. tell us about it. >> reporter: yeah, vai and erin. we actually have a van stuck right behind us. if you take a look over there, this is a sheet of ice on this corner. we are at lauriston and ridge. that's a main road here. they've put some cardboard under that truck to try to give it some traction. we contacted the water department about what happened here, they tell us it's an 8-inch main that has been leaking and that's where all of this water has come from. it's just a froze sheen sheet o. when we arrived here, there was another car stuck in this ice. we'll show you some video from that, from this morning. she tells me she was coming back from the gym, lives at the top of the hill, and she's from iowa, so she figured she's pretty good at navigating this, but the ice was just too thick. take a listen. >> i was driving up the road and then my tire got stuck, so i tried to back up

nbc 10's lauren mayk joining us. >> reporter: one person was killed in this crash.hite house spokesperson says there were no serious injuries among members of congress and their staff. two local lawmakers were on board. congressman brian fitzpatrick from pennsylvania and congressman tom mcarthur from new jersey. they are both okay this afternoon. this crash happened in virginia with the amtrak train colliding with a garbage truck. some lawmakers jumped in to help the injured afterwards, including congressman jeff flake -- senator jeff flake from arizona. it reminded him of the scene last summer when a gunman opened fire at a congressional baseball practice. listen as he describes today's crash. >> so i think the closer you were, the more of an impact there was. it did derail the engine car. but it's -- it still took us awhile to stop. i moved back about ten cars. it took about that long to stop the train, even with the front car derailed. so we were moving at a pretty high rate. >> new jersey congressman tom mcarthur explained what happened saying on the way to the
