meteorologist leigh glaser joins us with the latest. >> leigh: san francisco over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, and more rainfall totals in a little bit. the live doppler 7 hd still very active. an area of low pressure right here, and it's pushing everything to the south. so we starting to see a little clearing in the north bay, and this will press south of the bay area this evening. we still have moderate rain, vallejo, hercules area, richmond, dark greens indicate moderate rain, and the pink on the screen where is the snow is still coming down. that would be mt. hamilton and to the north of sayre saratoga e santa cruz area, storm watch, winter weather advisory still in effect for those areas until 7:00. looking at two to three inches of snow at the 2,000-foot level. so far, mt. tam, three inches. hamilton, six. santa cruz, five inches of snow, and monterrey, five inches of snow. we're going to see some clearing tomorrow. >> alan: if you're heading to the sierra, be very careful because this is a look at the caltrans camera on highway 50 at ski run, just half an hour ago. yo

i'm going to let leigh glaser handled this one. >> leigh: i have to tell you i know everyone is kind of disappointed we didn't see the snow. but colder air does not hold as much moisture so while we have the cold air in place, we just didn't have enough moisture to make it come out in the form of snow. in fact, live doppler 7hd, this is a live sweep. not picking up any moisture at all here around the bay area. you can see to the south of us, we are still seeing some of those returns, a little bit of rain to the south of carmel right now, salinas valley, and this is the last of it. tonight get ready for very cold temperatures. last night and this morning we had cold temperatures. record lows, napa, 27, breaking an old record of 30 set in 1945. 32 at oakland airport. oakland, a new low of 34. sfo, 35. records that tied. san jose, 33, tied a record from 1897. record lows a good bet tonight. freeze warning in effect for north bay and east bay and salinas valley. protect the pets and pipes and cover your plants. >> alan: as we mentioned, we did get snow, just not at sea level. here's more

for a better look at the rain and snow totals so far, least going to leigh glaser. >> leigh: we thought we would check in with live doppler 7hd. it's been very active for the past four to five days. not so much right now, getting a little break. here's a look at some bay area higher peak snow accumulations, the past 24-36 hours. tam has four inches, diablo, six inches, mt. hamilton, as much as six to ten inches of snow. santa cruz, five inches, and monterey, higher elevations, five inches of snow. monday through saturday, these are rainfall totals. lohman, close to seven inches. close to four inches for san francisco. same holds true for oakland. three inches for concord and napa, and a little over four and a quarter inches for santa rosa. more rain is in the forecast. we'll take a look at that in a little bit. >> alan: poor conditions may wipe out plans for the surf contest at mavericks. the contest is an invitation only event and surfers from around the world are given 48 hours notice before a big swell is expected. this year only five or six swells have hit the area, and none have be

let's talk to leigh glaser now. we have rain on the way. >> we do. we warmed up as much as 10 degrees around the bay area and this next round of showers is going to be a little milder than what we had to deal with the past several days. be prepared for that. you are looking at our high definition camera you are seeing clear skies and in the north bay already seeing a few clouds out there. it is going to be the clouds tonight that will actually keep us a lot warmer than the past several mornings as the temperatures in the 20s in the north bay. 47 in san francisco and 39 fairfield. mountain view as well 43, 45 in san jose and 40 right now in livermore. not as cold tonight. we are still going to be near the freezing mark in the north bay. a lot of that is simply because the clouds are moving in and you have to insulate us. we will look for increasing clouds throughout the day for monday and a chance of a few showers near the golden gate bridge tomorrow. look for a heavier rain to move in tuesday night and wednesday. the forecast model bringing a little
