our lisa desjardins has the latest and joins us now. lisa, it's good to see you.at did republicans change in this last-minute revision? lisa: this has been another whirlwind of a day here on capitol hill, and a pivotal one both for government function itself and also for speaker mike johnson. let me go over the bill that speaker johnson and house republicans unveiled just over an hour or so ago. here's what's in it. it would extend government funding for another three months. it would add billions in funding, about $100 billion in funding for disasters, including recent hurricanes. now, this is new. it would extend the debt ceiling for two additional years. the debt ceiling is likely to hit in the spring of next year in the trump administration. it would also extend the farm bill for one year. that debt ceiling extension was something specifically that president-elect donald trump and vice president-elect vance had asked for, and it was not on the negotiating table until president-elect trump brought it up. today, president-elect trump posted on social media that

lisa: the u.s. dozens of islamic state targets in syria after president biden warned bashar al-assad's fall could cause a rise of extremism. what is your take away from how destabilized the region is and what you want to be watching to understand what could come next? norman: the collapse of the bashar al-assad government is an inflection point for the region. it does offer areas of risk and the united states and israel are doing everything they can to minimize that risk. israel has undertaken multiple strikes against weapons facilities in syria in a manner that has been unprecedented since the 1970 three war. israel has moved some forces into a neutral zone to prevent anyone from moving into the territory. the united states has attacked thousands of isis sites in eastern syria because isis has conducted a resurgence over the last year and has been worrying. the united states want to make sure with the collapse of the syrian army that isis does not take advantage of this and expand further. i am not

let's go to lisa with a check of your forecast. lisa, are we expecting more rain today? >> yes, we have a level one system. you can see some moderate to heavy rain in the north bay right now around santa rosa. yesterday the flood advisory was just lifted by noontime. so the water is receding from the wild weather on saturday. and now we're expecting anywhere from a half inch to three quarters of an inch in the north bay. here you can see lighter rain, santa rosa, petaluma, and we're expecting more rain to sink to the south. the frontal band and with it some breezy winds. so right along the coast, jenner, bodega bay getting wet. and as far south there as highway 29, some wet roadways. it's going to be another maybe two hours, 7:00 until we see the rain in san francisco. but it's progressive. it moves quickly. 50 in san jose, 41 in danville. right now, the cloud cover keeping us pretty mild. we had that full moon so still bright out there despite the cloud cover, a quarter mile visibility. livermore one mile in concord you can see vacaville at four miles. so as the frontal

lisa. thank you. today, family, friends and community members will gather for the funeral of one of the students killed in that crash that rocked the piedmont community last month. they will honor and remember the life of jack nelson on november 27th. he and his two friends, sean dixon and krista sukara, were in a truck when it veered off a road and slammed into a retaining wall and a tree, causing it to erupt in flames. all three were in college, visiting home during holiday break. they graduated from piedmont high. a fourth person in the car survived the crash. they were pulled out of that burning tesla by another driver passing by in the east bay. now, a family run restaurant is reportedly shutting down because it held a ladies night promotion and had to settle a discrimination lawsuit. now, due to financial concerns, the owner of lima in concord says she's forced to close at the end of the year. here's abc seven news reporter tara campbell. >> reporter the sign on the door makes the closure clear.

zach. >> lisa. thank you. new details about the fiery crash that killed three college students in piedmont. officials have released their names and are sharing memories from their families about those young lives lost. sean dixon, kristen tsukahara and jack nelson died when the tesla cybertruck they were in crashed. a fourth person who was injured in the crash remains in the hospital. all were 2023 graduates of piedmont high school and were home for the thanksgiving holiday. the city released statements from the families of the three victims who died in that crash. sean dixon was a student and lacrosse player at usc. his family wrote sean lit up a room, made friends easily, and had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. kristen tsukahara or krista tsukahara, excuse me, was a sophomore at the savannah college of art and design. her family says she will be remembered for her kind and sensitive heart, love for her family and friends, and for her incredible eye for style and design. jack nelso
