i'm lisa bell. >> matt: i'm matt austin. the boy was 8 years old. this happened on pembrook drive where jennifer ortega is live for us this evening. i know you spoke with a mom who told you her son helped pull that boy out from the water. she's happy her son acted so quickly to pull his friend out of the canal right here. detectives are still working the scene at the moment. now, here's some video of the area from sky 6. detectives tell us the 8-year-old boy goes to riverside elementary and cutting behind houses and through the canal to get home. this all happened around 3:30. the deputies say the boy and his friends were playing on a pipe that stretches across the canal when the boy fell off into 3-foot-deep water and his friend helped pull him out. >> someone called me and said my son, they thought he was the one that was drowning. but they said, no, he was the one that saved him because he was one of the ones that jumped in. he's the only one who knew how to swim. >> reporter: now when we got here, we saw deputies interviewing two young boys who

i'm matt austin >> lisa: i'm lisa bell. a 17-year-old boy and his 18-year-old girlfriend are facing charges. the sheriff's office says michael anderson is charged with second-degree murder in the death of antoine davis. his girlfriend is charged as an accessory. davis was killed in ocoee last saturday night. news 6 reporter jennifer ortega has been following this for us and she joins us live. the sheriff just talked about this. >> reporter: well, the sheriff said he actually arrested 17-year-old michael anderson. he was hiding in the wooded area near orange blossom this morning when they arrested him around 1:20 this afternoon. they say his girlfriend played thing. she was actually charged with accessory and tampering with evidence. she has also been arrested and anderson is being charged with second-degree murder. here's what the sheriff had to say about the whole thing. >> we know this won't bring antoine back, but we -- but we hope this news will bring a measure of comfort to his family as they prepare for his funeral. >

i'm lisa bell. >> glad you're with us. i'm matt austin. this is happening between challenger parkway and state road 405 in titusville. a stretch of challenger parkway is shut down now because of this. amanda castro has been following the story for us and joins us live. what do we know about this thing? >> reporter: well, we know the flames actually burned up to the roadway. that's why state road 407 is shut down. troopers are on scene directing traffic away from the blaze. if we take a few steps in this direction, you can see down the road it's still a very active scene. but the smoke over there is thinning out a little bit. here's video from sky 6 as it flew over the brushfire earlier this afternoon. you can see there were large flames and the windy, dry weather conditions fueling the blaze. crews say it's about 35 acres in size and they have it about 90% contained. i've also seen helicopters out today dumping water above the right now, no homes or structures are in any danger. the flames did spread to state road 407. the roads are closed

i'm lisa bell. i'm matt austin. in the last couple of hours, we've learned the county has asked the governor to extend voting hours at those precincts because of the issues. news 6 reporter amanda castro coverage. she's live at the orange county voters were actually turned away from the polls this morning. >> reporter: yeah, matt, it happened at approximately 12 polling locations. they were experiencing ballot issues. they didn't have enough republican or democratic ballots printed, leaving some voters very frustrated they were turned away and couldn't vote. in apopka we saw angry voters who were not allowed to go and cast their ballots. there was a data glitch in the system. the number of party ballots printed they were supposed to print got switched with non-partisan ballots which means they didn't have enough democratic or republican ballots printed. it only happened in polling locations where residents were also voting for local elections, including apopka, ocoee, belle isle, maitland, winter park and windemere.
