human remains were found last night in the rubble of this destroyed malibu home. and we want to show you aerials above the palisades fire, where you can see most of the homes leveled, some scattered within that somehow luckily stayed standing. cal fire says it's now estimating that some 5300 buildings have been destroyed. these are just preliminary numbers, but many are homes, businesses, trailers and rvs. it's already being called the most destructive in l.a. history. the fire again, 0% contained. officials are also now saying 4 to 5000 buildings have been destroyed in the altadena area by the eaton fire. they're also now saying that four people have been killed by this fire, not five. a firefighter was injured fighting this fire this morning, but they are expected to make a full recovery. i took video of everything before. i like fleeing in a panic. tk video of everything i could before i left. yeah. it's gone. just absolute. it's the further you go up, it's just t an absolute wasteland. when we came yesterday, it looked like an inferno in here. it looked like a

from palisades all the way to malibu.the pacific coast highway, neighborhood after neighborhood completely wiped off the face of the earth because of these winds and the raging fires. at one point last tuesday into wednesday, hurricane force winds, 70 to 100 miles per hour. and the problem with all of this is right now as we are expecting the santa anna winds to to kick up again later tonight and throughout the next few days. and that may enrage these fires again. so it is a, it is a tackling of time at point for the thousands of personnel and firefighters on the ground from all over the western states and even canada and mexico to try and pounce these fires out right now. now, if we talk about the human element which really is the significant issue i right now, so many people have lost everything. they are displaced. there are 11 people that are, in total, that have lost their lives and many more injured. and we're hearing from residents who are in shock. listen. >> we evacuated twice before maybe in my lifetime, and i t

you know, i grew up in malibu.re used to these evacuations that come out of nowhere and are very traumatizing. i had several cousins who also had to evacuate. one family, they evacuated their home near sullivan canyon. they went to a hotel and then the hotel had to evacuate. everyone's just like really tired and on edge, and it's very painful to see a place you love burn like this. >> yeah. do you know -- do they have any idea about damage to their homes? >> i drove by my dad's house a few times on sunset boulevard yesterday afternoon. it was fine. but then the fire moved very quickly through there again and just engulfed a lot of that area. the video you showed -- one of the videos you showed earlier, i was driving up and down canyon drive, which is right by pch on the coast. palm trees were on fire and there was fire from the coast all the way back up to the hillside area. i'm not really sure what that looks like right now. >> we're still seeing these very dramatic images of more destruction this morning. these a

you are in malibu and where you are in pacific palisades and mall malibu. a high significant list of injuries among people who did not evacuate. i've been hearing you say this from the beginning. you have to get out. >> it's been extraordinary to watch people trying to get out of here over the last 24 hours but in some cases it has been impossible. i want to show you what is happening here right now. this is in the heart of pacific palisades. a densely packed neighborhood. we have been here now, harris, for about an hour and a half in this particular location. up to bryan's right this house was on fire when we first got here, just beginning to burn. then one of its walls fell into this one in the front yard where we're standing now. it was about 45 minutes ago it was a two-story house. this is what is left of it. now the embers have spread to the one next door left of that again. you can see that one is on its way towards burning to the ground. the ferocity of the flames, our cameraman and i have been feeling here has been so intense we've had to back off o

devastation there in malibu tonight. >> well, mike, you asked about how much of malibu is left, and i want to show you something. if you take a look over here, you're going to see a row of six, eight, ten houses, 3 or 4 of which are pretty much destroyed. the rest are damaged. and the reason for that is that, as i say, embers flew onto them, the wind was blowing and they burned. but these are standing, you know, as intact as can be. now i want to pan off to the left. i want to show you something where those other fire trucks are way down the road from the last fire truck that you were looking at here, all the way down, way past those fire trucks. every house is gone on the beach side. some of the most expensive real estate in the united states and in the world for that matter, just gone. burned. and why are these fire trucks here and down there? they're looking for embers. there's an active fire fight going on over here to the right, where you can see that this fire truck is quite literally trying to put down a fire that's just in the back of this particular building. so as a result o
