mannion: yes. rep.illiams: i would not. >> standing on the topic of crime and you have already referenced data that shows violent crimes are down, property crimes are not. oftentimes that is a crime everyone is impacted by. there have been consequences that have come up in the very campaign. congressman williams, what is a good compromise that gives young criminals a second chance and a chance to rehabilitate without making it seem that youthful offenders are getting off with no consequences? rep. williams: there are benefits to bail reform. all the benefits are for criminals and not for law enforcement or the citizens. that is true for raise the age, as well. i routinely talk to law enforcement professionals that tell me that children under the age that are committing these terrible crimes laugh in the police's face because they know they cannot be handcuffed. i am endorsed by the largest police department in this district. the largest union in the district here in syracuse. i am very proud of that end

. >> senator mannion, we will take that first part of the question, then we will give you a second to talk about new york state's prisons. the getting reinstated prior to medicaid coverage getting reinstated prior to release to ensure the continuum of care is that something you support? >> when people are incarcerated and pay their debt to society, we want them to be successful. we don't want them to be back incarcerated and therefore, a tax burden to individuals and their lives are further lost. it's the right thing to do. my opponent must not be informed, because i voted no on the halt act, and that was because of my engagement in correctional facilities, talking to the corrections officers, to incarcerated people, to also individuals that work in our correctional facilities outside of the corrections officers, like social workers and health care practitioners in those institutions. i have toured those facilities, looked. at them i have spoken with everyone and parked made an informed decision and voted against my, party majority because i listened to the corrections officers. they

look at new york 22, double-digit lead for mannion over williams. we can go on and on.rtunities for new yorkers. who would have thought new york might be the state that would bring hakeem jeffries the speakership and the majority in the house? >> a brooklyn congressman right there. what about eric adams? you heard ali vitali talk about him a little. when i was covering the hudson valley two years ago, i heard a lot from folks who ended up voting for mike lawler that they thought new york was a mess, it was lawless. they thought the leadership was bad. with this news that eric adams is under indictment and a lot of his staff are as well, does that help things or hurt things? does it matter, the allegations against eric adams? >> you know, you know those folks on long island and the upper hudson valley, even pennsylvania and new jersey read the "new york post." that has some impact. i think that the impact. but i think the voters of new york are very sophisticated. as you saw one of those clips, you know, abortion is a primary issue for many new yorkers. it's they fear fo
