maria molina has been tracking it for us. good morning maria. >> good morning patti ann and heather. it is heartbreaking what's going on. you have the topography across western parts of colorado so when all of that rainfalls on the mountains it runs down into the streets that's what produces the wall of water, that rise in water levels among many of the streets and streams up here making the flooding situation much worse. you can see the radar the past 48 hours more thanches of rain in boulder and denver and across areas east of denver. there are reports that as much as 11 inches of rain have fallen out here. all kinds of reports but the issue is really that we have again the runoff. other sections of parts of new mexico and as far east as sections of februanebraska and picking up a lot of heavy rain over the next 48-hours. we have flash flood warnings it has helped pump up parts of new mexico keeping the rain chance in place. friday, saturday into sunday we are talking a significant hint for more heavy rain and more flash flo

. >> maria molina is tracking that storm and the rest of our weather for us. >> hi good morning patti ann and heather. it is a dangerous situation we have ongoing across parts of colorado. the national weather service has issued a flash flood emergency ongoing right now. i want to read parts of this to you. it is a very dangerous and serious situation. emergency management reported collapsed houses and major flooding occurring along the creek. multiple creeks have been forced out out of their banks because of heavy rain and water levels. a flood occurring in the burn area west of the city of boulder and within boulder, colorado. incredible flooding ongoing right now at this hour. the reason we have flooding ongoing across parts of colorado, new mexico, utah and arizona is we have picked up significant rainfall over the past 40-hours some areas seeing as much as 6 inches of rain even higher amounts. we have burn areas that can't absorb water so a lot of runoff does occur. a number of flash flood warnings are in effect and several watches. more rain is possible today. this is going to c

maria molina is in the weather condition. >> the weather conditions aren't forecast to be an issue. want to point out my concern across parts of colorado and even into the plains is the water flowing along the river. you have high water levels along the rivers and flowing downstream. that can effect the areas further away from boulder colorado as it continues to creep further south and to the east. flooding over the next several days and into the weekend because some of the waters will flow in that direction. over all weather pattern not too bad. drier conditions moving to northern sections of new mexico where we have seen incredible flooding in those areas out there. a number of warnings have been in effect. otherwise thursday, friday, saturday even into sunday we are looking at generally dry conditions. for today there is a slight chance for a shower or storm. but much drier across parts of colorado. i want to take you to the east. we have a number of frost advisories and freeze warnings in effect. we are waking up to the second morning in a row of cold temperatures where crops co

maria molina has been tracking that.f the big town. >> that's right. it is currently raining. in true fashion, i'm outside bearing the elements. look at mexico, you can see some of the video of extreme flooding there. we did have landfall already occur from ingrid and that was a hurricane. but now it has weakened to a tropical storm. maximum sustained winds at 65 miles per hour. the biggest concern with ingrid isn't whether it's a tropical storm or hurricane, it's really the amount of rainfall we are expecting. we're talking about locally up to 25 inches of rain possible from the storm system over the next several days across sections of northeastern mexico. so flash flooding will be a concern. we're also look at issues in terms of mud slides out there because we do have several mountain ranges. you can see the computer model forecast is for, again, locally up to 25 inches of rain. but overall, more than six inches expected for so many areas out there in parts of the country of mexico. otherwise across the united states,

that's not news to maria molina, is it? >> no, it's not.g out from the national hurricane center at the top of the hour at 8:00 a.m. eastern time. we will bring that to you. as of right now, it is still a tropical storm, maximum sustained winds at 40 miles per hour. you can see it here on the tropical satellite. a big blob now in the caribbean. it is producing a lot of heavy rain across parts of puerto rico, including the city of san juan. anyone that's doing any traveling out here or people that live here are experiencing a lot of heavy rain. locally, some areas could even pick up to a foot of rain. flooding a huge concern and mud slides. right now the track does take the system to the north. over the next several days, it does remain as a tropical storm. so far this season we have not had a hurricane. we're still waiting on that. it is forecast to be well above average. we have more time to go. the season doesn't end until november 30. the good news with this system now for the united states is that it's forecast to stay east. otherwise t

we are going to toss it over to maria molina. what can you expect?ions over the several days and parts of the southwest because the entire region has been dealing with heavy rain. these are areas not used to seeing significant rainfall in a short amount of time. on average they should be seeing 1-2 inches of rain during the month of september. some of these areas picked up 15 inches of tlaiven seen flooding in colorado. in boulder take a look at the extended forecast. drier conditions monday, tuesday, wednesday even into thursday. we are expecting to see continuous flooding out here across sections of colorado and new mexico because it's going to take time for the river flooding to continue to improve. you see the waters recede. that's what we are looking at here river flooding being a major concern in colorado. otherwise across the gulf of mexico we have hurricane ingrid maximum sustained winds at 75 miles an hour. we are expecting to see heavy rain across cities like brownsville and southern states could be experiencing heavy rain today. temperatur

meteorologist maria molina is live in our fox extreme weather center with the latest on that. >> good morning, martha. that's right, this storm system a little bit unusual. so it is very early in the season to this see kind after storm. we're talking significant rain, snow and even wind there was a wind gust recorded in parts of washington up to 85 miles per hour. this type of storm should be happening during the winter months. we're making up significant rainfall across parts of washington and oregon. locally six inches of rain has fallen in some these areas loafer over the weaken and early this morning. guess what? that rain is still coming down out here. higher elevations where you have colder air in place we have snow coming down across part of the washington cascades. we could pick up to 20 inches of snow along the higher elevations. because there is cold air associated with the storm system snow levels will be duping down to pack levels. some of those passes anyone doing driving out here we could have issues. please be safe on the roadways. we have winter storm warnings i

we're joined by meteorologist are maria molina, from the fox weather center. a, how much more of this is of concern in colorado today? >> hey, martha, first of all good to see you. a positive outcome from that rescue effort in parts of colorado. we already have two confirmed deaths. so this is a very dangerous and life-threatening situation continuing across parts of colorado. unfortunately we're looking at the threat for additional rainfall as we head into the next several days. i do want to talk about what we've seen so far and really what caused this. one of the reasons we picked up significant rainfall out here, not just in colorado, but across parts of new mexico. you're talking about several inches, four to six, locally up to seven inches out here and north of the city of denver. that is where boulder, colorado, is, that is where we picked up several inches of rain during the overnight hours. there is a couple of issues. one of them this part of the country typically does not see heavy rain. they are not used to see being this much heavy rain. that ground

meteorologist maria molina has been tracking this live. you've been waiting for the first. >> i have been waiting for the first especially because noaa issued the hurricane outlook for the season and they do think this will be a well above average season for the atlantic hurricane season. we think we will see a lot of tropical storms and a lost hurricanes. you can actually argue it both ways. you can argue they are right we have seen above average tropical storm activity and that is actually right. if you look at the map here, we've already had eight main storms to date. that is above average for the average season to date which is about six storms but we have not had any hurricanes. you can also argue it is well below average for this time of the year. we could see the first named storm or hurricane coming up later on this afternoon. that is tropical storm is off ta and west of the cape verde islands the storm system is forecast to intensify. the latest advisory from the national hurricane center the is storm is not doing much intensifyin

maria molina is going to tell us what the day ahead weather wise is like.ing. out in the streets of new york city. today if you live in the center of the country, you're either going to be seeing temperatures that are well above average or below average. let's look at the map. it's a strong cold front headed eastbound ahead of that system that you're going to be seeing temperatures that are in the 80s and even 90s for some of you. still feeling like summer, but it will be bringing in a significant cooldown. also showers and storms expected today and there is even the threat for severe weather in the form of damaging winds in excess of 60 miles an hour and also large hail from some of these storms. there is also a chance, very small chance, that there is a chance that we could be seeing isolated tornadic activity. so tornadoes are not out of the question, anywhere from parts of wisconsin, into sections of iowa, missouri, and kansas. you can also be seeing severe weather. keep an eye out for that. temperature wise, 88 degrees will be your high today in the ci

maria no molina, is that the ca? jr.good news for us across parts of the east coast of the united states. and so far this hurricane season, we have yet to see a hurricane. so that's also so much much-welcomed news, especially after that forecast from the national hurricane center that the season was going to be well above average. now let's talk about gabrielle. right now the storm system is just a depression. earlier this morning, about six hours ago, it looked much more impressive on satellite, it had a large area of showers and thunderstorms associated with it, but take a look at this loop. over the past six hours, that has significantly dissipated, so just a couple of storms in the actual center of low-level circulation is located right about here, to the south and east of the dominican republic, and most of the showers and storms are well off towards the east producing areas of heavy rain across eastern portions of puerto rico. regardless of whether the storm is a tropical storm or depression, it is still forecast t
