let's check in with mark tamayo because i have to say. when you showed up the bay bridge, we were surprised. >> we are welcoming the rain drops across the bay area and even some snow up in the sierra. here's a live camera looking out toward the area. we do have downpours. you have the idea here. we have rain drops in the area. the rainfall has been picking up over the last hour or so approaching the central portions of the bay. look at gernville, .40. san francisco just adding rainfall .02 but these numbers changing quite a bit. in fact, you can see right now on live storm tracker 2. the rain band making its way through the central portions of the bay and even approaching the south bay. the heaviest rain has been to -- has been focused up in the north bay. more steadier downpour tp-rs -- town pours for this part of the season. out toward hercules approaching martinez. here you can pick up some of the cover. this has been the extent of it here. those yellows and oranges do correspond to more intense downpours. oakland, san leandro and hayw

. >> let's bring in our meteorologist mark tamayo. >> very active day with strong storms developing. especially in the afternoon you probably noticed the cumulus clouds producing the hail, the hailstorms and as a result we had widespread hail across parts of region. wrapping up february very active. this is the scene looking out towards the foothills of the east of the san josi and look at that hail accumulating on the hills. as far as the strongest storm of the day, we'll take the radar back to 6:00 and we're tracking this cell during the 6:00 news and around brisbane and south san francisco. this triggered a severe thunderstorm warning warning from the national weather service, producing hail and numerous lightning strikes that eventually moved out to the pacific and that warning expired at about 7:00 this evening a. here is the radar you can see over the past few hours. look at all of the activity really favoring first the northern parts of north bay this morning into the afternoon hours and things started to pop up in the south bay towards san josi, out towards parts of san franc
