. >> let's head over to meteorologist, david murphy and matt pelman in for karen rogers. busy morning. >> yeah, our traffic plate is full this morning. how about the weather smorgasbord. >> a little bit sticky this afternoon. we have satellite showing you that most of our cloud cover is off the coast this morning. so, that's nice and it looks like yesterday we'll wind up with a lot of sunshine, a little bit of cloud cover and a fading shower out to our west right now. looks like we are mainly dry this afternoon with just a slight chance of a pop-up shower or thundershower and that's mainly up in the poconos. 73 degrees in philadelphia. 69 in trenton. we've got 65 degrees in allentown this morning. 66 in wilmington. 69 at the airport in ac and 73 degrees in cape may. a little bit muggy out there. you'll notice that as you step outside. dewpoints are in the 60's this morning instead of the 50's so moderate humidity. and it gets a little hotter. by 7 o'clock, 71. not too bad. by noon we jump all the way up to 88 trees with degrees.

and it's matt pelman. not really. today's weather is gorgeous. let's take a look at satellite and radar showing that the clouds are out of here. no rain in sight for our region and we're off to a good start to the day but you know what, feels kind of cool out there. let's look at these numbers early this morning and check the conditions for you. and we have temperatures even cooler than they were yesterday morning in spots. 61 in reading. 67, though, in philadelphia and 63 at atlantic city airport. and as we look at the day ahead, we're seeing lots of sunshine today. it's a beauty. and we have low humidity. so, sunshine, low humidity, temperatures you can see a high of 83 here as we look at the day planner so that's just a couple degrees below average. by 7:00 a.m., 64 degrees. still in the 60's. by lunchtime we're up to 80. nice and sunny. 3 o'clock, 5 o'clock sitting at your high of 83. at 7 o'clock, coming down from that from that and 81 degrees. expect a gorgeous day leading into a gorgeous night. if y

matt pelman with the very latest. >> sounds like we're going from bad to worse. reports of a secondary accident in the detouring route. everybody was being forced off here of the northbound side of 42 at college drive. that's exit 7b, the one that you take to get to the gloucester premium outlets. now we're getting reports of a dump truck accident on this off ramp. that's why they've flipped the camera around. now we're looking at the off ramp. you can still see traffic getting by here on the off ramp being forced off of 42 but apparently there is a truck accident up ahead. the reason you were being forced off of 42 to begin with was a nasty three-vehicle accident that happened at about 2 o'clock this morning. one of the drivers was ejected from his vehicle so it was a really nasty one, serious. they're still out there investigating. so, all northbound lanes of 42, the north-south freeway remain closed between that point that we just saw at college drive and route 534 blackwood-clementon road. this is a really busy stretch of roadway in the morning that now you'r

the traffic, will it get better matt pelman? >> it's a little less predictable perhaps. w what's going to happen but so far it's looking pretty decent this morning on mostly dry roadways, tam and matt. looking live here in exton chester county, this is 202 right where the 30 bypass comes in. last week they were blocking this on-ramp from 30 to the northbound side of 202 during the overnights. this week they're not scheduled to do that until friday night so the ramp is opened. you're good to go if you need to travel northbound up toward malvern and king of prussia along 202 this morning. if you're traveling northbound on the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike it looks like things are getting better. we were seeing speeds in the 30's and 40's. now we're up into the low 50's on the northbound side indicating i believe that the northbound work zone is probably in the process of clearing out. so, you should be completely clearing. good to go there shortly. east west turnpike had no overnight construction, at least doesn't have any at this point but if you're head

matt pelman standing by in the "action news" traffic center. wet typically means a slow go matt. >> that's how that usually goes and that's how it's going this afternoon quite slowly. good afternoon sharrie. welcome back brian. you're back on a really beautiful afternoon out there. look at the tree. isn't it nice? well, if you look through the tree, there we go, that's why we're looking at it there's a crash here on the schuylkill eastbound side between conshohocken and the curve taking out the left lane. with that left lane being blocked everybody's forced into the right lane and so you're moving in an extra slow pace coming eastbound on the schuylkill away from 202 through that accident scene just beyond the conshohocken interchange. also we have issues on 95. there's a broken down vehicle on the southbound side near girard. so just 11 miles per hour as you come southbound weigh from the betsy ross bridge. and on 95 in new castle county there's a crash it's blocking lanes in both directions near christiana. happened on the northbound side but

let's head over to matt pelman to take a look at your traffic.several issues including a broken down work van here in bucks county. this is 95 southbound by business one. it's taking out the left lane. not causing a huge delay but a little bit of slowing as you come south of the scudder falls bridge. not too far off in morrisville river road mostly blocked off this morning at bickers way because of a crash of the i would use yardley morrisville road to get around that 32 blockage. and we had blockage earlier headed toward the old granite run mall in delco on the southbound route one media bypass. it was a vehicle fire. sounds like things are opening up now but i would still stay down on baltimore pike, baltimore avenue through media. color on 95 northbound in delco is gone as is the one in the state of delaware. it was just off of 95 on 295 northbound. now cleared but still sluggish in those northbound lanes coming north of 273. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. now let's head out to karen rogers who is enjoying being outside this morning. >> i real

let's head to matt pelman and see where things stand on 42.they're standing still this morning, tam. this is chopper6 footage of the overturned dump truck scene along 42 at the college drive off ramp. this was our second accident of three this morning along 42. and this overturndun truck is still out here partially blocking the ramp from 42 to college drive. as we come back out here the original accident that closed 42 northbound at college drive is also still causing restrictions. but at least now the far right side of the roadway is open to traffic. still, though, it doesn't really matter. with just one lane getting by where that would normally be three or four we are jammed solid. it's a parking lot coming off the a.c. expressway. you want no parts of this. detouring routes are also backed up like the black horse pike and 55 northbound is extra heavy. if you can bail from the a.c. expressway at winslow and take 73 maybe up to 30 use those over here to the east to get to 295 or turnpike. tam. >> thank you, matt. we'll take a short break and

matt pelman is here. he schuylkill, matt. >> you know, matt, we try to take the glass half full approach but it's a little tough when there's glass all over 76, the schuylkill expressway. in the eastbound lanes about 25 minutes ago that center lane was covered in glass. you can still see a little bit but the crews got out here with their brooms swept up the glass. all the activity is on the shoulder. eastbound travel time is still three times what it ideally should be with a solid jam and speeds like 4 miles per hour coming east from city avenue into girard. river drives would be a much better bet. crash on the boulevard northbound at c street is gone but at robbins and torresdale still have the traffic lights out because of an earlier crash. a truck flipped over into newark. it's the ramp from 95 southbound to 896 where the truck is on its side. traffic is barely squeezing by on the shoulder. >> thank you, matt. david is off. meteorologist karen rogers joins us after the break. >> ♪ using artificial tears

. >> matt pelman back in the "action news" traffic center and it's friday finally, matt, hm. >> and we try to take the glasses half full approach when it comes to delivering the traffic but it's tough on a friday afternoon because there are lots of issues and the hits have just kept coming here along 95 northbound. since last we spoke there was a crash here in the northbound left lane right by the exit for broad street. luckily it just cleared out. farther north there was a broken down vehicle and we had a medical emergency on the walt whitman bridge headed into new jersey. that's now cleared as well. all these issues clearing out but you still have pretty big delays as you head towards the walt whitman bridge. of course the shore traffic isn't helping us out either. now it's pouring here in chester county. we're close to coatesville on the route 30 bypass by 340. traffic volume isn't too bad but there's a lot of rain coming down so those speeds need to come down as well. the road is going to be slippery and that rain is just starting to move into our region. in delaware our crash alon

. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center today. hey, matt. >> the weather around here dam sort of appropriate kind of matches the mood after that los over the weekend. good afternoon to you rick and sharrie and the traffic is not so great right now because of the damp and in many cases very wet conditions out there. had a vehicle that ran off the southbound on-ramp from 420. there's the vehicle. it's still in the trees. they're in the process of trying to pull it out but that on-ramp is currently blocked as they try to remove that vehicle from the brush. you don't want to be on the blue route southbound this afternoon 476 a parking lot from past conshohocken all the way down to approaching broomall. just one lane squeezing by a crash there. 320, 252, 352 would be better bets. crash on the schuylkill eastbound by the curve is off to the side but still slow as there -- there as well. ben franklin bridge westbound is that especially slow. accidents on 42 have cleared at least we're starting to pick up the pace here on the southbound si

. >> gina gannon in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. how we looking out there gina. >> definitely a friday and the roads are showing. that looks like a lot of people are leaving town maybe taking advantage of the last weeks of summer while we can. showing you on the big picture it's a lot of red especially on the schuylkill expressway. look at that westbound delay right at city avenue. 9 miles per hour so definitely going to be slow on the schuylkill. i would say right now tur biggest delay is on the schuylkill expressway so plan ahead for that on 95 we have our typical slowdowns northbound from penn's landing towards allegheny. slow on the southbound side. the vine is crowded as well as that will blue route. expecting a blue route delay and southbound from route 30 to 95. a fire location in parkside. parkside avenue is closed between belmont avenue and girard. all lanes are blocked there. maybe the vine is clearing up just a bit only on the westbound side. good to go maybe a slight tapping approaching 76. that eastbound side is jammed

. >> matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center its a busy afternoon, hm. >> yeah, already watchingious accidents on this friday rick and sharrie. looks like they're getting ready to tow away the last seek involved in this crash. this is route seven limestone road at brackenville road by the limestone veterinary hospital. this was a really nasty accident in fact, one person was ejected from one of the vehicles involved. you can seal it looks like they had to take off the roof of this car to get the other people out. two people transported to christiana regional hospital via medical chopper. two people with serious injuries and you can see all the stand they put down on the roadway as well because of a fuel spill. they're putting the finishing touches on the crash but for now no creek road and mendenhall million road would be alternates around limestone road and brackenville road. coming out of delaware on 95 northbound crash this afternoon here in delco. these are the northbound lanes near 452. this also looks like a serious one. couple of the vehicles off in the grassy median here

and matt pelman and i are heading down after today's show and we'll hang out with people on the boardwalk watch the show. >> very nice. and what kind of weather will they have. >> mostly okay. might be a little bit humid and there is a slight blip on the model of maybe a light shower. >> i'll be okay. >> we're mainly dry after we had thunderstorms roll through overnight but take a slightly closer look on the radar and you can see out in lancaster county there is an additional shower still trying to work its way into the region and that may just start to pop into our northern suburbs. there's another little blip down on the other side of baltimore. in general as you'll see it looks like we're in the process of drying out and of course we have a little bit of a flooding situation here or there from where heavy rain came in overnight so be careful as you're driving around. as we take a look outside we have sky6 at the airport. you can see that the surface there is wet even though the the rain from overnight has left the area. as you step outside it's still going to be very humid. we have a d

. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center today. matt. >> slowing along at schuylkill expressway. as we look live here in west conshohocken westbound come the headlights, eastbound go the taillights towards the conshohocken curve and it's building volume in both directions here and uneven lanes still as they continue the milling and paving work during the overnights. some are paved, some are not paved. kind of depends on which lane you're in so watch out for the height differential as you travel along the schuylkill expressway. just starting to see slowing on the eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike coming away from norristown out to fort washington. speeds aren't too bad yet still in the low 50's. in dresher watching a crash along susquehanna road near fitzwatertown road. a water main break this afternoon in south philadelphia. it's along south broad at geary and that's just south of the schuylkill expressway, 76, there by the cvs as you head towards the sports complex. you can expect restrictions. construction restrictions o

. >> let's go live to gina gannon in for matt pelman this evening in the "action news" traffic centerhi, gina. >> hi, rick, hi sharrie. it's rush hour its a monday. we have delays especially if you're heading out on 95. here's a life look right at the vine street expressway. so, 95 at the vine you can see the northbound delay still piling up there and i would say you're delayed from callowhill street out through to allegheny. and you can see it's just about 20 minutes. typically without any delays it's 14 so just about an additional six minutes out there. you can see southbound not a problem at all. let's show you the big picture. construction on the westbound side of the walt whitman bridge around the downside. the vine jammed both directions. we have delays on the schuylkill. 13 miles per hour there. the roosevelt boulevard is heavy. and i want to show you the roosevelt boulevard because there we have some delays as we take a live look outside. looks like the camera froze a little bit. this is the roosevelt boulevard up and over the twin bridges that were northbound side going to be

. >> go back live to gina gannon who is in for matt pelman. >> hi rick and monica, we're seeing delaysging on just a touch out there. this is northeast philadelphia. this is 95 southbound right at woodhaven road so as you can see if you're coming off the ramp from woodhaven things are pretty slow but really not too bad. you can see on that southbound side from woodhaven at the vine 20 minutes that's it. typically it's about 14. probably only an additional six minutes. northbound 17 between the vine and woodhaven so we'll take that. we still have some red on the map in particular we're still a little slow on 95 northbound between i would say the vine out through allegheny. the schuylkill still hanging on with a delay in both directions eastbound and westbound. let's take you outside if you're traveling into northeast philadelphia taking the roosevelt boulevard up and over the twin bridges that that northbound side is still crawling along slowly from 76 out through to broad street so there you want to give yourself a little more time. also more time needed in particular if you're traveli

. >> let's go live to gina gannon who is in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center today t. >> hi, sharrie and brian. it's monday out there. very sluggish on the roads indicative of a monday. we'll show you what is happening. as you can see we are seeing 4 miles per hour, that's on 95 because we have an accident there that i'll get to in just a second. a bit slow 95 on the southbound side. look at that on the roosevelt boulevard that that northbound side 17 miles per hour. the schuylkill looks like we're in the yellow there. not too bad. about 20 on that westbound side. we'll take that any time of the day. we won't take an accident on 95 northbound just past the vine street expressway. really not helping things. looks like it's in the process of clearing. looks like now we just have the left shoulder being blocked. emergency personnel on the scene but again that left lane is blocked. we are seeing delays back to penn's landing so earlier the two left lanes were blocked but now just that left shoulder is block so a little more time needed. guys i'll send it back over. >> t

let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center to see how it's going. >> somethingas been in the water along 95 northbound this afternoon. just had our fourth crash of the afternoon. luckily this one cleared out pretty quickly. it was here in the northbound lanes by tasker as you head towards columbus boulevard. gone now as is the vehicle fire on the northbound side by philadelphia international airport. all the activity with that is off to the side so all the lanes are opened. but we also had that big crash on 95 in delco northbound by 452. that, too, is cleared out but still some lingering delays coming north of marsh road and those delays spill back onto 495 northbound in delaware as well. meanwhile, out here in tredyffrin township still have this downed tree near the goddard school blocking old eagle school road. wayne avenue would be an alternate around that. there's emergency construction in maple shade this afternoon along 73 both ways at high street so big delays there headed northbound and coming southbound off of 90 away from the betsy ross bridge. and of

gina gannon in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. >> t.g.i.f.ut there to all of you but right now if you're headed out on the schuylkill it's not going to feel so nice. this is a live look at the schuylkill expressway right at the blue route. look at this. we have your typical eastbound delay but now looks like we're seeing a bit of a slow go on that westbound side so watch yourself if you're traveling from this point the blue route out through to gulph mills but this eastbound delay extending back to 202. from 202 to the blue route expect some backups. from the blue route to the vine 30 minute delay. on the roosevelt boulevard we have a long line of sluggish volume if you're traveling northbound from i would say 76 through to broad street. so some time needed out there. good news southbound is running along smoothly. if you're traveling into delaware we have debris rot road on 495 northbound between terminal avenue and 12th street and i'm getting word the debris is actually a carpet and an exercise ball so be very careful if that's where you're

. >> over to gina gannon in for matt pelman. t.g.i.f., gina. >> same to you guys..g.i.f. on the roads. we have a lot going on. we have a lot of red on the big picture and look at that, single digits on the schuylkill expressway. but as you can see it's just very typical friday afternoon volume. like on 95 if you're traveling northbound you're heavy from allegheny to about bridge street. southbound getting in the mix right now. the vine is very crowded. on the westbound side of 76 you are jammed. i would say from montgomery drive out through to the conshohocken curve. that eastbound side going to be heavy as well. if you're traveling on 95 in delaware county here's your live look at the blue route. 95 at the blue route this is your big southbound delay. you are jammed from this point out to 452 so you can see that your travel time between the blue route to the delaware state line about 13 minutes so we are seeing that in the red. more time needed but that northbound side is fine. also things look a little bald out there on the westbound side of the vine street expre
