let's head over to matt pelman. again he's starting on 95.maybe two, you're going to need something to help get you through this mess. it's a absolute mess along 95. year in the red we're in the red zone on the travel times. slow speeds we're not used to are on the northbound side thanks to a crash involving an overturned vehicle by bridge street. at this point just the one right lane is blocked but it was three lanes that were blocked nor awhile -- for awhile. looking at speeds like five coming north of girard. take alternates like frankford avenue even the northbound boulevard where the crash at devereaux cleared. power outage in center city. they've had to block off chestnut street as a result between 15th and 16th. also fire department activity in west philadelphia at arch and ruby. turnpike eastbound by norristown there's a crash taking on the iting out a lane. >> it's a chilly wednesday morning. let's go over to dave murphy. good morning. >> we're starting out with sun mixing with a few clouds over the terrace. it's chilly. 42 degrees i

. >> all right, let's take you to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center to see what's rolling out there. hey, matt. >> happy friday, rick and monica. get ready for some red as you head home check out the travel times. speeds we are in the red across-the-board. 42 minutes on the northbound side of 95 and it all started with this, a crash northbound here by bridge street that's now off to the side. you can see it there. but for awhile it was blocking three of the four lanes. that northbound travel time is three times what it should be although 42 minutes is a lot better than the hour and 20 minutes we saw earlier on. so, we are improving but it's still a really slow go on 95 northbound that spills back onto the vine street expressway. solid line of traffic eastbound across town from the schuylkill out to 95 and of course those delays spill back onto the schuylkill itself. but at least our westbound truck accident on 76 near montgomery has cleared. however, still have that one westbound by conshohocken on the shoulder that's attracting some attention so speeds in general on the s

let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. hey, matt. >> first a taste turns a little sour as you try to head home unfortunately because there are a few things on your way on this friday afternoon preventing you from getting to that weekend, brian and sharrie. here on the schuylkill expressway it's just a bunch of other drivers, some volume in your way special as you come westbound by the roosevelt boulevard and head out towards city avenue but on city avenue the problems are bigger. southbound lanes are blocked right by us, right by channel6 you can't get through at monument road because of a serious accident and all traffic has to either go left by us or make the right onto monument road. you can't get through on the southbound side of city avenue coming away from 76, the schuylkill expressway. so, once you get off the schuylkill head over to presidential boulevard and make your way around that way up. on the big picture typical friday afternoon volume kicking in. 18 miles an hour on 676 coming southbound out of camden joinin

let's get another check on the roads right now. >> matt pelman here now with the update. green beans are one of the few vegetables i actually like so i'm sticking with vegetable. it is a vegetable in my book. i might be the only one but good afternoon to you, brian and sharrie. the seeds have been planted for a rough ride home here along 202 in chester county thanks to this, southbound accident. this is our second 202 accident of the afternoon. this one is southbound in malvern between 29 and 401. it's taking out the left lane. had been blocking the center lane as well so traffic's really slow. 46 minutes on that southbound travel time. it's about three times what it should be as you come southbound away from the schuylkill down toward the 30 bypass. you start to jam right around 252. so, i would stick with business 30, which is lancaster avenue instead of 202. our other 202 accident in west chester by matlack street, that one's gone. still some slow speeds in that neck of the woods but all of the lanes are opened on that chunk of 202. elsewhere in chester county in thornd

let's take it live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. ppy friday, matt. >> it's been a crazy week rick and monica. we're ready to get this weekend started but first on the way home some issues. problems in the way like here in great valley chester county northbound side of 202, had some fire department activity off to the side. it was blocking the right lane but now it's pushed off to the side and southbound a couple extra minutes on the travel time but it's not too bad. elsewhere on 202 in king of prussia right by the pep boys word of a crash. that's 202 at salmon boulevard. watch out for that. we keep watching the situation that dann was telling us about in radnor township, newtown road at abraham's lane is where that vehicle flipped over. it's jammed in the area. church road would be a local alternate. had an earlier crash on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound side out around malvern, route 29. that's off to the side so speeds are increasing but it's still sluggish as you come west of valley forge and elsewhere in chester county still

. >> all right, matt pelman standing by on what looks like a foggy day. >> not the most ideal weather conditions for the ride home. a few concerns including the weather brian and sharrie on this monday afternoon and including a whole bunch of traffic already here on the roosevelt boulevard extension as you head northbound off the schuylkill lots of brake lights lighting up passing ridge avenue in east falls up towards broad street. that's just normal afternoon volume but not too far off word of a serious crash along lincoln drive. emergency crews fire crews ambulances responding right now and it's kind of right under where the henry avenue overpass comes over top of lincoln drive. i would avoid lincoln drive. even though the boulevard extension is backed up that's still going to be a better bet than lincoln drive. a crash in olney along north broad street. watch out for the emergency crews there as well. they just finished cleaning up a wreck in gloucester city along route one. getting back to normal in that location. slow zone 22 miles per hour along 95. it's normal northbound aftern

traffic-wise i'll live it to matt pelman. lots of sunshine today and take a look at the temperatures. not only locally but across the eastern half of the country, running way above average, 62 in bismarck, 73 in wichita. even busting over 70 for saint louis, chicago 54, matching our temperature. and 61 cincinnati and not far from that for raleigh. in addition to the warmth, it's quiet as well. as you can see, very little happening here across the country. a little bit of clouds arcing north of chicago with a warm front there, a little bit of shower activity in the northern part of north dakota but that is about all so it's quiet here this evening on our monday night, temperatures around 46 at 7 o'clock, 43 by 9 o'clock. a calm wind and low temperatures dropping top around 37. the next two days we'll be on either side of 60 degrees for a high with wall to wall sunshine both tuesday and wednesday. well above that normal of 52 degrees. but just how long does the sun and warmth continue? we'll have that full accuweather forecast

let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. hey, matt. >> it's good to try and keep hope alive but i'm probably here to dash those hopes, at least for drivers along 95 unfortunately we're off to a really rough start this evening as well, brian and sharrie, these are the northbound lanes of 95 at bridge street and it's a messy crash taking out three of the four lanes. you can see traffic just barely squeezing by on the right side of the roadway. and right now it's an hour and 20 minutes, more than five times what it should be to get northbound on 95 from the vine up to woodhaven. yes, that is not a good start. delays from 95 are spilling back onto the vine jammed solid from the schuylkill out 295. westbound side of the vine doesn't look a whole lot better with a sea of red brake lights. those vine delays spilling back onto the schuylkill just 7 miles per hour on the westbound side so really having the domino effect all because of that northbound accident on 95 by bridge street. i would think alternates like frankford avenue or th

. >> all right, matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center tonight and things will gradually gets we get to thursday, matt, hm. >> yeah, this is always such an interesting week on the roads and the rails rick and monica, with above average traffic tomorrow and wednesday usually as people get out of town, then you have all the parade closures on thursday and extra traffic around the malls on friday, so it's something for everyone. this afternoon, though, just your garden variety situations on the roads like a crash here on 95 southbound side by woodhaven road. this is new in the last half hour and you can see it here taking out the left lane. so, you are dealing with some slowing as you come down from street road. sometimes i would say head over to one southbound instead of 95 southbound but there was also a crash there, southbound past 95, speeds still right around 20 miles per hour so that should be improving but at this .1 is not great, either. have another crash second of the afternoon along new falls road, this one is at durham road and it sounds pretty serious. sounds like s

matt pelman. >> we're counting the seconds until it gets here and they're going to feel like very long seconds if you're on 95 right now because you're stuck in a lot of traffic. thanks to this brian and sharrie, what appe six-car pileup, a pileup sounds pretty severe. this doesn't look terriblier is serious but it is six cars involved, one right into the next. that vehicle that's on the back of the flatbed tow truck appears to be pretty badly banged up. i think the rest of these looks like they'll be able to drive away. at this point the left lane is dropped on 95 southbound by the betsy and as you can imagine this is creating some really big delays. let's go to our camera shot and you'll be able to see the backlog on 95 southbound a sea of brake lights pretty much parked at this point from academy through this point near cottman on down to the betsy ross bridge. that 42 minute travel time southbound is three times what it ideally should be and we're only at 10 after 4:00 in the afternoon. schuylkill broken down vehicle westbound by south street. that's cleared out. still slow. i thin
