mcdonald's on miller park way in west milwaukee. milwaukee residents concerned about the potential for lead in their drinking water, can now do something about it. cbs 58's julie parise has more from outside the 16th street community health cent. one of two south side filter distribution events happens here in just a few hours. people who live in homes with a lead service line can come by to get a free water filter. the water filters are one step in reducing the threat of lead poisoning in children. the city says the filters should last about a year. tests show that filters can remove about 98 percent of all lead pieces from the water. the common council has been working on a plan to replace lead service lines for months. months.tom barrett "i would imagine that there are want make sure that we're reaching out to them and that they know the importance of having filters for their water waterbevan baker - this is a partnerhsip model for the entire nation to see how milwaukee is responding to their hazardsthey water filter event at kazi-ess-ko community center. the city does recommend children who live in homes with lead pipes do get tested for lead poisoni
