i'm megan pringle. >> i'm jamie costello. here's meteorologist susan shrack. >> reporter: good morning, everyone. it is a wet and rainy one out there. it could be on the dangerous side. this is in north baltimore. this is just shot by our overnight photographer pete on the street o'neil. you can see drivers have to take it very slowly. that's just a word of caution if you are going to be out and good in the next couple of minutes actually. if you step out the door, heavy rain. it's going to taper off as we head into the next couple of hours. it's already starting to pond on the roadways. taking a look at the conditions outside at this hour. we're looking at a temperature 57 degrees. relative humidity 100%. wind is out of the north- northwest at 8 miles per hour. this is why we have all that rain. there's a big storm off the coast spreading the rain shield all the way back into the central part of the state, now even into the western portion. as far as rain amounts so far, we've been seeing the most of it on the eastern shore

i'm megan pringle. jamie's here on the go. first, a developing story is our top story this morning.t takes us to the southern part of the united states where there is serious flooding going on this morning. we with a tell you all about it. justin berk is monitoring the story. let's send it over to justin. >> you thought we had it bad here. take a look at this video. as we take you to near nashville where flooding rains caused problems for a series of counties in tennessee, and at least 18 people were evacuated from their homes to escape the floodwaters. more than 40 homes were searched by emergency management rescuers. i just checked the nashville report. they had over an inch of rain. the actual estimates from this estimate, up to 5 inches of rain in parts of tennessee. this storm has been sitting across the deep south. it dumped 15 inches of rain in parts of arkansas and texas. that system stays to our south and still responsible for thoughing moisture up our way. this morning, it's cloudy skies. high pressure will try to build in. this one should try to dry us out. into the weeke

i'm megan pringle. >> i'm jamie costello. let's look at the weather with meteorologist justin berk. >> good morning. 6:30. let's start off here, 6:31 with maryland's most powerful doppler radar. we've had some heavy rain come through. if you're watching us in baltimore city, anne arundel county, you're likely dry but we've had heavy rain on the top side of the beltway, now pushing through aberdeen, here's havre de grace, 95 in harford county is slow because of heavy rain through periman, this is coming down really heavy and the point that it's going to make you slow down on the roads, you just had it on fallston and bel air, it's moving east. top side of 83 from cockeysville, timonium and along the york road stretch in central baltimore county another shot of rain. looks like we had that on in through the north side of reisterstown, just clipping the top side or at least the intersection of 795 and route 140. overall though we've had ourselves some wet roads because of the rain that already passed through. you're dry now in o

i'm megan pringle. >> i'm jamie costello. weather and traffic every 10 minutes. let's find out about our forecast today. >> good morning. 5:09. temperatures not going to move much today. where you see them now, maybe a little bit of a bump up as we head into the afternoon but a strong east wind and the rain showers moving in, will definitely help to hold this in place. 63 easton, 64 baltimore. as we show you the satellite and radar composite you can see the general flow of moisture from east-to-west. this is important because that is the general wind flow. showers become more numerous as the day wears on. much more than we've had the last couple of days, high tide can be an issue because of a coastal flood advisory along the west shores of the chesapeake bay which does include the high tide for tonight, i think it will be the biggest problem at 11:50. if you have any interest along the chesapeake bay, that's what to look out for, for localized flooding and beach erosion. temperatures make it to our two-degree guarantee of 68 this afternoon. the showers become mor

i'm megan pringle. >> i'm jamie costello.s your weather with meteorologist justin berk who has some breaking news from overseas. >> reporter: this video just in. wow, that is amazing. first time i'm seeing this. from turkey where the governor of instanbul, the death toll has risen to 20. it happened in their city overnight. and heavy downpours are expected to continue throughout the week. that is impressive. we expect heavy rain around here. it's always good measure to note never attempt to drive over any sort of flooded waterways because it may be deeper than you might actually imagine. more on that on "good morning america." a storm across the atlantic, 67 in baltimore, 69 new york, 68 norfolk, not much spread here. we've had a storm that is stuck, has a blocking pattern to the north preventing it from moving to the north. also out to sea. this sits here and churns. in fact with that high pressure sliding out of eastern canada and out of maine it's actually going to enhance the wind flow and help to pull this storm backward

i'm megan pringle. a drug suspect stabs an undercover officer in the back.ened this morning as two officers were making a drug arrest in the 2800 block of orleans street. the officer had on a but the he willproof vest that protected him from getting hurt. the suspect died at the hospital. both officers placed on routine administrative leave. >>> still no word if police will file charges against the johns hopkins student accused of using a sword to kill an intruder. police say the suspect has been identified, 49-year-old donald rice. they say he's a habitual offender, he died at the scene. >>> lawyers for city councilwoman helen holton say they have evidence she's being singled out. documents reveal ronald lipscomb also exceeded campaign contribution limits paying for a political survey for state delegate jill carter, she ran against dixon in 2007. lip comb has been the center of a city hall corruption probe already leading to indictments against holton and dixon. >>> the state's highest court agreed to hear new awrgts in the lawsuit claiming kevin clark was

i'm megan pringle. here's a look at the headlines. work on and off the field. the team has partnered up with the nfl work to fight childhood obesity. this partnership is good news for one lucky elementary school. sherrie johnson is live in glen burnie with reaction to a huge announcement. >> reporter: good morning. yes, we're here at corcoran middle school where students have already went inside and the teachers to get their day started but later this morning they will receive a big check for $50,000. this is all in an effort to get children to work out and exercise and to prevent childhood obesity. the nfl network has partnered up with governor martin o'malley for today's big announcement. the program is called "nfl play 60". the league's youth, health and fitness campaign to keep gym in school. the goal is to get children do work out for 60 minutes a day and two baltimore ravens will lead students through fitness tests, football drills and mini camp. the school is excited about this program. >> this is such a wonderful opportunity f

i'm megan pringle. here's a look at the local headlines. watermain break. the highway there has a massive hole in it. that is probably going to be like that for a while they say. many though are concerned that their insurance company is not covering the flood damage. some flood victims tell us they've had their insurance for 40 years or more and they may not receive any money to cover the damages. state officials are advising insurance companies to not deny claims. victims may not know how much is covered until early next week. >>> check out this video from west baltimore of a crash from overnight. police say 2:30 a.m. a cabbie picked up a fare but overloaded the consider with eight passengers -- car with eight passengers and two children. and it collided with an suv in the intersection injuring everyone in the cab. the driver of the suv was not hurt. there's no word now if that cab driver will face charges. >>> an incredible rescue in southwest baltimore after a man crashed his moped into a guardrail and slipped down an embankment. this ha

i'm megan pringle.s -- one morgan university student sure hopes he has a better today than yesterday. sources say a car carrying students from morgan state university slid on the wet roads in northeast baltimore and crashed into a suv, on loch raven boulevard near havenwood 10:30 last night. our overnight photographer pete "on the street" o'neill captured this video. no one was seriously hurt but one student had just been released from the hospital earlier yesterday for a mugging and is now recovering from the car crash. >>> baltimore county fire officials are working to make neighborhoods safer this morning. all a part of a new pilot program kicked off in rogers forge. fire department personnel will be walking door-to-door at the request of concerned communities in areas with specific safety issues. they'll address such issues such as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, even basic home emergency planning. communities interested in safe neighborhoods should contact the safety education division at
