the most snow primarily right now is from the merrimack valley, parts of metro west right on up into southern new hampshire. here too we've had sleet mixing in at times its the combination traveling very slippery. the roads are a mess. we'll be talking more about that. but plan on slippery travel through at least midday today. effect. as you get out into worcester county, that's where we could see some slippery conditions right on up until this evening. we're watching that transition of snow and sleet now through 9:00 a.m. thereafter, all that sleet is going to turn to rain at the coastline and eventually this afternoon freezing rain may be a concern north and west of 495. we're not talking about a lot of snow. a coating to a couple of inches. many of us have had up to an inch so far. northern worcester county, southern new hampshire. this is where we could see two to possibly local amounts up to four inches of snow. these temperatures in the lower 20's through worcester county but above freezing boston, plymouth down to the cape right now. and that's due to that wind off water tempe

you were fortunately we didn't break the freezing mark through metro west and that is loud for we had the slush and snow and already froze late yesterday, last night and continues to be frozen solid out there right now. the hope was to get a little bit of a south to southeasterly wind trying to warm us up and mix down some of the warmer air just about 1,000 feet up above the surface. no luck on that as these winds have been dead calm, only a couple miles per hour out of the north and west. and that's why we've held close to the freezing mark, if not just below it. visibility in boston, two miles, a quarter mile or less out in ars of worcester. the radar is quiet. however, that really low-level moisture in place can force out a little bit of patchy freezing mist and not be picked up on the radar, and we have had some reports of that. in terms of more showers and the steadier rain, i think we'll see some of these showers expand from pennsylvania into southern new england later on this evening. most notably after 9:00, 10:00 this evening, and once that occurs, we may have some more issue

we think at least metro west, wooster county, kind of the more classic winter where that is where we see some of the highest snow falls. plus or minus five inches, either side of the average in the city of boston, lesser amounts in the cape and islands, it looks like it is more of a back loaded winter, end of january, february more cold shots that start to come in. because we've been so mild. temperatures are running in the 40s, it's 6:15 and it's 40 degrees. we are coming into the 50s clouds are in place, friends to the north, northern eastern maine dealing with areas of freezing rain, we are waiting on rain back to the west coming through the ohio valley right now. this is the same system that was responsible for some severe weather over the weekend and. >>> is some snow on the back side of it. we won't get into that one. on the mild side, areas of rain are going to advance in west to east. that does mean most of the day today is dry, no problems. between 8:00-9:00, rain moves in, here is the map tomorrow morning 7:00 a.m., rain is done. a quick shot does come in, most of us end up
