mike inouye will have a look at the traffic in just a bit. >>> at 4:55 this morning, happening today, marriott hotel workers across the country and here in the bay area plan to protest. they are asking for better pay and protections from sexual harassment. the local protest is happening at 4:00 at the oakland marriott city center downtown. we're also learning more than 1300 marin county workers plan to strike startingsunday. they are asking for better pay as well. that strike is expected to last three days. county officials say the strike will not impact the county fair or emergency services. >>> seamlessly everywhere you look around san jose, something is under construction. that's good news for workers but it could be bad news for you if you're planning on home renovations. city says building permit requests for remodels and home additions continue to rise, which means if you're looking to do work around the house, you might have to wait a little bit longer than expected. workers are actually opting for the bigger and more lucrative jobs around the city rather than the smaller home
