mike mibach is live outside of the oakland police station with more. mike? >> reporter: good afternoon. opd calling this a significant development, a new clue, a new lead that's led to this. it was a sketch released about 90 minutes ago. police say a man who looked like this is the man who killed the 8-year-old girl, the little girl was at a sleepover in oakland's diamond district back on july 17th. someone after 11:00 p.m. someone rang the doorbell. alicia was on the other side of the door. after that multiple shots went through the screen door, killing her and injuring others, including two children. police say it was a number of witnesses who recently came forward to provide investigators the details that led to the sketch. it's clear and hopefully police say it is a lead that will lead to an arrest. >> this is the largest break in the case that we've had so far, and we want to find this person, we want to find them, find them and arrest them. that's the focus right now. we're reaching out to the community. >> reporter: she says the home was targeted by t

i'm claudine wong. >> i'm mike mibach.here is a bay area connection to this developing story from kenya, 26-year-old elaine deng graduated from uc berkley in 2009. she was at the mall when those terrorists stormed in yesterday. now in this photo she posted online you can see she suffered cuts to her face but is otherwise okay. deng is currently the general manager for eat out kenya, a web site for people visiting the country. just a short timing a kenya's president announced that military forces have cornered the terrorists in one part of that shopping mall. he estimates there are 10 to 15 terrorists but could not confirm reports of both male and female attackers. other officials say there are about 30 hostages still inside that mall. so far 59 people have been killed and at least 175 injured. >>> a san fransisco sheriff's lieutenant is back in custody accused of violating his probation. vincent calvarese is scheduled to appear tomorrow morning. he violated his probation when he did not go to mandated sessions. he was take
