meteorologist mike nicco is tracking what maria is doing right now. mike? >> reggie, hi, everybody. i have the live doppler animated out of san juan and you can see not only are they boarding things up and trying to batten down the hatches, they're doing it with waves of thunderstorms as outer bans are hitting san juan right now and all of puerto rico. as we look at puerto rico, they're not quite in the winds yet. the red there, those are the fastest winds. it's about 70 miles across. let's find that. that's where most of the damage is going to be. it goes right over the u.s. virgin islands. right into the western -- eastern third, i should say, of puerto rico. you can see the darker the red, that's the more densely populated areas. especially san juan in the strongest part of the storm's going to go right over that, cause significant, possibly catastrophic damage. it will weaken a little bit as it heads to turks and caicos by friday morning. and then right now, thankfully for the u.s., it's taking more of a shorp tusharp turn to the north than the west like irma did, reggie. >> oka
